OK!
Here is an updated utility written for Excel that will calculate how long it will take to pay off an LPG installation, and the cost saving associated with it. The fields that need filling in are blank, so add in whatever is appropriate for your area, (prices, and KM travelled) and it will calc the rest! Enjoy! ****UPDATED 5-7-05. See below

Updated. Now shows how many Km you need to drive until the conversion pays off. Calculated from price of fuels and usage rates

Does the "Savings per litre" need to be in yellow as its not a field that would intentionally be modified...?
Or am I missing something? Otherwise, great work! Now it needs a bit more maths, with a variable interest rate of paying off a home loan at 7.23%pa, how much will be lost to compound interest by spending the extra $2000-ish to install LPG and how long will it take to break even?? j/k! |

No. Saving per litre is worked out when you put in the cost of the LPG and the cost of the petrol. The difference is what you save per litre. Well, $1000 as opposed to $2500 plus is makes the equations work out much nicer!

yeah, but for $2500 thts brand new parts and high quality bits and tuning and so on .. its a bit of work involved and the mixer/converter new + tank is most of the cost.
