In fact BP (yes the green and yellow one you may fuel your car with) is one of the wrolds foremost solar panel developers AND manufacturers.

Run the industry. It's ridiculous to say that they arn't trying to restrict the industry. of course they are. They would be stupid not to.

A few years back, might be a few decades actually, one very brilliant scientist claimed that he'd cracked the cold fusion problem and produced scientific evidence to prove it. The US military was so impressed that they gave him an UNLIMITED budget to work on his theories and solve the energy problems of the world. I'm sure you can find information about it. It was discovery channel doco that I saw it on. The action taken by the US military, and the fact that they didn't cover it up, sure doesn't sound like the sort of conspiracy theories that John's going on about. In fact, governments all over the world spend billions on cleaner energy. I don't see the coal suppliers sabotaging wind and solar power plants. I didn't see the fossil fuel industry cover up the discovery that you can generate electricity from sunlight.. I don't see the oil companies lobbying against the governments of the world to change the legislation to make cars more fuel INNEFFICIENT, rather than what happens now whereby car manufacturers are forced to make cars more fuel EFFICIENT. I can go on and on John....... Ahhh.. i work for an electricity company, reason why they dont sabotage wind and solar power plants, or any other form of green energy, there are a few reasons, #1 legally we need to have a small percentage of green power in our grids #2 green energy costs more in comparison to our cheap coal generated electricity as solar panels are expensive, dams would need to be made, and too many people complain about wind farms being an eye sore, and we have heaps of coal! the dirty power industry is cheap, green energy is expensive, so the dirty industry has no problems about green energy for the moment, until something new and clean comes out at a cheap price, electricity produced from coal companys will still be the dominate electricity in our grids

Let's say the pioneer some sort of clean fuel. Works out pretty well for them. Phase it in - in the mean time, sell the fossil fuels over a prolonged period, at an inflated price obviously. Then, when we do need to switch to a clean fuel - they are there, product in hand, ready to sell it to us. The oil companies would be mad not to develop alternative fuels. Their income stream is going to run out sooner or later.

I think some of us have become a little too cynical in this thread (not without reason thankyou John).
But BP's solar panels are widely regarded as the best commercially available, and they're still developing the tech behind it. But anyway, where's this video of a V6 running on nothing but water. Don't care if it's 5 mins or a month.

Probably a good thing... when you consider the oil inputs that are required to produce solar panels, lol.

If you really can create hydrogen cheaply john, give Peerless Holdings in Laverton North a bell. We go through about 2 to 3 thousand cubic metres of the stuff a week.
Oh and data_mine, is that the experiment with the gerbil on the wheel, or another one?

did anyone see beyond tommorow tonight with their articles on compressed air powered vehciles?
a company has plans of releasing a small car (barina size) that has 3 gas tanks underneath that you charge up with compressed air. reckon they'll get 110kph and 250 k's of city driving out of them. Was very impressive.
