G'day iv been looking around for ECU mods, iv been looking at unichip and powerchip, Powerchip claim a 20kw boost from there plug and play unit, it is $890. Has anyone used one of these and do they actualy make a big difference.

Yeah I had one. absolute rubbish. I told them that it did nothing. I argued with them paid $890 and it was crap. They gave me $150 to return it. I returned it. never buy one.

lol ohk, iv already got my mind set on the unichip, $1300 chiped and dynod tuned they said i should make high 130's low 140's (rwkw)

140 is rubbish. you dont have enough mods to upset the factory ecu.
get a huge cam and some heavy duty valve springs THEN bother getting a tune and chip |

what mods do you have.cam(ect). if your engine is stock thats alot of money for a chip that may or may not do anything for a std engine. personally if you spent $1300 on a cam and a bit of head work you should get 140rwkw. im a bit suss. im not convinced you could get 140kw from a chip alone. |

ok i didn't relise, i siad to the bloke that i got 127rwkw already and he said i should get, high 130's low 140's. So you think it wont do much then?

to be honest i think you will get more than 10kw gain with a better cam and it will cost you half the price of that chip.
the chip would be benificial if you have a large cam and your have idling probs ect. anyway its up to you... |

id love to ge the head all done but i drive my car to often and i dont really want it to be off the road for very long. I think il get the chip, i dont really mind if i dont get a big increase because i will eventualy get the headwork done so it should work well together

the chip wont do diddly squat unless you fit a cranky cam and upset the fueling. Seriously go spend 135 dollars on a Wade 1636 cam plus 60 dollars on shims and it WILL give you a performance increase. I really cant understand the need to spend 1300 on aftermarket management on a stock car when you can spend 1/6th of that and get great results with a cam. |

It's annoying though i cant get a dead set answer, if the cam im after will work proply with my Hybrid head

ah f**k i forgot about that. Ring wade and ask how much to grind an AU cam with similar performance to the e-series 1636.
As far as i know the hybrid head runs off the e-series ecu so it should all be fine. All you can do is spend the 135 odd dollars and see for yourself. |

well this is what i got back from Chris when i sent him a msg
"Sorry for the delay in responding. We're having continual internet problems. We don't have an AU equiv. for the 1673 ATM. There's an AU equiv. for the 1636 and also one for the 977B, which is slightly "hotter" than the 1673. Chris" How will the 977B go?
