Hi i have somewhat an unusual problem and was hopping that sum one here may be able to help me with.

At the moment i'm doing a project for school, I'm trying to convert a old carburetted daihatsu charade engine to efi. I'm using all the wiring, sensors, throttle body and ECU out of a EA CFI Falcon.

See heres my problem, i have 2 sets of jumper leads, 1 crap and 1 good. When i use the crap leads the engine struggles to cranks over but i get spark, however when i use the good leads on the same battery the engine turns over fast but i dont get a spark. I have run a code diagnostic ont eh ecu and all i get is:

Code Problem
52.........................................Power steering switch open
85.........................................Canister output circuit failure
87.........................................Fuel pump relay fault (im running this separately from ecu)

If it helps the ECU is a:

EEC-IV 0DCB CFI-SD153 90DA-12A650-CB

So if anyone could help me to figure out why its not sparking, i would greatly applicate it.

thanks

The ignition module for the ford controls the timing up until 450RPM.

You should be able to disconnect the EEC completely and still get spark. If your EEC doesnt send a valid SPOUT signal the ignition module fires the coul on the falling edge of the distributor pickup's signal.
