Hey,
I have an EF XR6 but I have put a BA air intake, air box and snorkel on my car, I have a rough idle, it's like it's trying to find a balance of fuel and air with the revs going up and down, it doesn't always do it though but it will most mornings. I'm trying to work out how to fix it, I have changed the MAP sensor, throttle position sensor and the idle motor thing (on top of the throttle body) and the next thing was that I was going to replace the injectors but not sure if I need bigger injectors due to the larger air intake, any help on the matter would be greatly appreaciated. Oh I am also going to upgrade the throttle body, would I need bigger injectors if I did this? Cheers |

I'd start off by servicing the injectors. May have a crook injector spraying a bad pattern. Has it always had a rough idle or since you did the conversion?

Yeah, very good point. just spray anything, preferably carbi cleaner around the inlet manifold. If revs pick up you've found a vacuum leak.

No it's was ok since I first had the intake it just started playing up recently, I've sprayed CRC around the inlet manifold heaps of times and it's made no difference.
How would I service the injectors? I would prefer to do it myself rather then take it to a shop because they are to expensive as the cheapest I've been quoted to replace injectors is $350 thanks for your help |

i just replaced some for my brother-in-law. I bought an exchange set off ebay. Cost me around $120.00 including postage. Took about an hour to change over. It's actually easier than i expected and made a huge difference. His car would barely run on petrol before and now doesn't miss a beat.

Yeah I've heard they are pretty easy to change, but just so I know should I get the standard injectors even if I'm running the BA air intake and a possible throttle upgrade in the near future?
Thanks guys |

Get some AU injectors, basically the same (physically theyre all identical in size), but they have a 4 jet nozzle rather than the E series 1 jet.

Ok cool AU injectors it is then which brings me to another question, if I'm running the larger BA air intake system and I put a larger 68mm throttle body on what is the largest capacity injectors I can use without having to tune it or anything?
Sorry I just really don't know much about injectors |

TB and larger intake do not require bigger injectors. This will only make it worse without a tune. Look at the basics first. Check for leaks, get them serviced, check leads and plugs, possible even coils or coilpacks if its and EF. You will not need to change the injectors for what you have done so far.
Good luck Brett

I have already checked the spark plugs and leads, each cylinder has a pretty strong spark, and I have checked for vaccum leaks, the injectors are the only other thing I can think of

Another thing to add is that I have tried using that injector cleaner additive that you put in the petrol tank but that hasn't changed a thing, I don't know how realible that stuff is

Stock injectors are fine,If you put AU injectors in it will just run rich untill the ECU learns, and they are just over kill.
