If it was only a catch can, then do you need an air filter on it? Wouldn't that ruin the suction to the rocker cover? Hmmmmmmmmm...

Hmmmmmmmmm... it doesnt look like its running from the intake so there would be no 'suction' but would still allow gases to vent out of the motor without spitting oil everywhere |

There is one blue pipe coming out of the PCV area (as per normal- top of the rocker cover at cylinder 2, passenger side) leading to the "catch can" and a pipe leading from "catch can" back towards the underside of the BBM, which is the normal point for the standard Ford pipe to return into. I only guessed it is acting as a normal suction device because of this. Anyway, where's the man who built it with his explanation?!!! Bloody nice looking thing though... Good original work that's for sure.

if you have a closer look the second hose actually runs to the breather at the rear of the rocker cover, not the manifold...

Thanks TroyModMan. Awesome. I was looking closely, trust me! It just didn't click in my melon what was happening... Guess it works, but all the gases out the rocker cover will just be released into the engine bay via the breather filter and you're relying on positive pressure in the rocker cover to force the gas out, rather than allowing the suction of the air intake to keep the rocker area at low pressure, thus sucking gases out quick smart. Anyway, that's not a big deal. Guess I'll continue looking for some sort of trap and filter setup for my own theory then. It can't hurt to keep some of the oil out of the intake, that's for sure! |

(IMAGE - deleted no need to re-see it again allready) looks like a cheap supercheap air filter/pod filter to me as they have a silver bottom and blue/red/purple top to them. why stinge out on the filter when you just paid 300 odd for the intake pipe lol |

Exhaust shop said they could make one up out of mild steel for $250 although not ceramic coated????????????

I take the whole induction set up off right up to the exposed throttlebody.. always good for a couple of tenths of a second quicker and never had any trouble with debris.. showed a smal couple of kw gain on a dyno too.. with green machine and (troy and vince) spectating.. -Crescent motor sport dyno... |
