hey, update on what i last modified to my intake, now i have an apparent cai (according to the manuufacturer) but its a s**t load bigger than the original inlet mouth!!!

Raptor, does your bonnet lining seal off the mouth of the snorkel ? You will be sucking in from the engine compartment if its not.

it seals at the top of the mouth so increased air flow from the front grille can be obtained!!!
I also had to raise the back if my bonnet to allow for the u bend as it was fowling out on it, but no problems now (and it removes alot of the hot air from the engine bay!).

Now thats what i'm tarrrlking bout! smooth pipe, One continuous bend, Should be getting nice air speed through that,, "Cold air too huh" . Nice setup.

Fordom, the clamps are enough to hold in suspension and there is enough give in the plastic joins to handle the slight engine rock. To be safe, i loosened my airbox bolts a bit, buts thats safety overkill.

Dsyfer: Just curious why you routed the pcv to the isc? NIce mod and looks good but.

If its to appease the poopoo, why do you still have the rear filter attached?
If its to remove unwanted gases, why not leave it attached to lower manifold and then you would have a clean upper manifold free of oil?

that setup is off a LPG setup, i have one somewhere, id say its so he keeps the intake and piping clean as its less pressure sucking but still enough to remove gas's.

i rather like the setup but id make it look a lil cleaner but dropping it right down then under the manifold and back up.

Hi all,

The car was on gas, have only started ripping it out recently, so haven't had a chance to do all the hoses yet (even the heater hoses to the converter were just disconected form converter and looped). So the pcv originally came from the manifold? Must check the service manual to find original locations, job for next weekend.

As my car was setup for gas, the airbox already had the "bungy cord" mod for backfires, so that is a failsafe for the snorkel. I plan on TIG welding a small bolt tab on the main bend, that way I can get it down even further, at this stage the bonnet just touches the pipe, but there is plenty of room, i could probably even just turn the TB elbow a bit to move it down, but i like the idea of a bolt tab.

As for the parts, all from Autobarn; some were in the bargin bin so don't quote me on prices.

one small silicone joiner $18,
one 90 degree silicone elbow $70
one 180 degree bend pipe $30
one straight length pipe $24
five hose clamps $20
one oil breather $18

I cut down both the 90 degree silicone elbow (use the offcut for the airbox) and the 180 pipe to get a nice flowing curve, it would have gone on without cutting, but this gives a better unrestricted flow IMHO.

Cheers, yeah got to the counter with all the pipes from the expensive rack and noticed a couple of what I wanted were marked down in the bargain box, unwrapped them and checked for dings etc, couldn't find anything wrong with em, so put the full price ones back :D

Im interested to see what people have done with the pipe when it goes into the actual airbox itself, does anyone have pics?

Currently mine is like this
Image

Playing with the idea of a bell-mouth inside, might have a go at turning this offcut into one
Image

Finally got around to adjusting the intake so it doesn't touch the bonnet.
