After much stuffing around, hacksawing a 180" pipe to about half, silicon tubing going to waste and not being able to use my Aunger Big Mouth CAI, i have come up with this.

And yes, the Aunger Big Mouth air intake will be for sale shortly.

Why cant you use the big mouth intake?

Is there anything wrong with my setup? This is the first time I've attempted a CAI. I'd appreciate any advice.

Yep, no shielding from the hot engine.

heat gets into pod, not as good as fresh air.

So all I really need now is something to cover it? I thought it was supposed to be open to all the air.

The pod setup in the corner of the engine bay is good like that, if any air is able to get in behind the headlight it will be fed straight into the filter. As others have mentioned, all it needs is some sort of air box or shielding to prevent hot engine bay air from getting sucked in.

With my setup (the one that lukas_bartko posted up on the last page) i made the airbox out of 4mm polycarbonate plastic sheeting, cut to size and then sealed off with rubber trimming to seal against the body work inside the engine bay. That does a good enough job at keeping the hot air out. My dedicated cold air source is a 3" duct that runs from a vent in the front bumper bar, up through the guard and sit directly under the pod. Could be something to think about for your setup perhaps?

I could also have a OTR air intake snorkel setup, but with EF/EL Fairmont bonnets i just don't think enough air gets to it, without doing other things to get better airflow to that area in the first place.

i think we've established even from the first 2 pages of this post, two things at least:.......

1) cold air is good, &

2) ag-pipe is bad.

need to see less half 4ssed efforts would be good. like the "show us your (insert model here)" posts, need a provision, not to add stock cars. stock falcons are ugly thats why this site is here, not to appreciate them.

good work on the custom stainless n silicone jobs though.

which is why i haven't.... mind you theres still a better than factory intake and exhaust with NO AG PIPE believe it or not....

in fact thats pretty much the attitude thats seen me not posting here of late. not that it's significant.....

i think i actually commented on that intake earlier in the piece in a positive fashion so i don't know why you've got ur knob hats on.

going off topic anyway...

when i was replacing my radiator the guy told me that the large pipe i had near the bottom of my car was not as good as i thought it to be.

he brought up a good point that if its a hot day the road will be hot, making the air close to the ground hot also making your car suck in hot air

any body else thought about this?

It is still damn hot...surface temp of road can hit 75*C....the air 6" above that might be like 50 or so.....especially on a day where there ain't much wind......like around here in summer.

Sorry boys cant seem to upload any photos onto fordmods website so heres the Photobucket link.

Supercheap auto job on the piping and the aftermarket aunger CAI which i think i got for a steal from supercheap auto on clearance for $100. Will be using this current design to take to exhaust shop to get piping bent for a join free intake pipe setup.
