I had it made up by snort performance for promotion so they could get more sales. I believe the asking price they were going to have was $250.
perhaps if you can get a decent group buy it would be cheaper. |

Ahh fair enough thanks for the quick reply
Yeah I was expecting the cost to be around that price there, I even called up some exhaust places to see if they could do something similar but only a few could and even then it was around the same price. |

to be honest id go snort tho. i imagine that a standard exhaust joint wouldnt tig weld then do a full polish of the intake.

Looking at all these intake pics makes me wonder - why didn't Ford design the throttle body so it points toward the airbox, instead of away from it?

Where did you get yours from or did it come with the piping? {USERNAME} wrote: Looking at all these intake pics makes me wonder - why didn't Ford design the throttle body so it points toward the airbox, instead of away from it? I think it's because the way the air flows through the BBM. If you had the TB facing the other way, the air would flow through the TB and straight into short runners with the butterflies closed, causing random turbulence which in turns means crap air flow into the chambers and crap response/power. You could then argue why not change the BBM design so that the butterflies are on the other runners meaning air would go straight into the chamber. However I think that won't give you the low down torque the BBM was designed for at low RPM. That's what I think but I could be way wrong considering I ain't no fluid dynamics genius.

{USERNAME} wrote: That's a similar set up to mine.. Thats because I took your picture from the early pages and sent it off to snort and they made it for me. {USERNAME} wrote: Looking at all these intake pics makes me wonder - why didn't Ford design the throttle body so it points toward the airbox, instead of away from it? they did ... once. {DESCRIPTION} All Turbo fords should be like this. http://www.zercustoms.com/news/Ford-Typ ... -Car-4.php |

sorry im not putting a pic up , they all look sweet guys , but i changed my battery to the other side (where the air box is )and have a pod in place of the batterys (old) spot so the pipes not so long , gives it more direct intake , i believe anyway , got heat shield mesh over the pipe so the extractors dont heat the pipe up ...fidly work to move the battery and weld another bracket in but i think its unique

Hey mate, you should definately throw a picture up, I have been wanting to do that for ages, before I even got an EL haha. I moved my battery into the boot, moved all the wiring to make space. Going to grab air up out of the front vent into the bottom of the airbox. Love to see how yours looks!

it's been done. there is a method to the madness of the novelty sized super duper long standard intake, it helps lift torque levels down low by increasing air velocity or some kind of similar techincal jargon.

But air speed has an effect between the throttle body and the inlet valves. Not between the air filter and the throttle body... after changing the EF intake over to a 3" pipe, it actually gained torque through removing the restriction! well if it increases low end torque then why not retro fit it to your AU?
