InspectorRectum you have one very homemade CAI. And about the hole in the bottom of the airbox...isint it also for like so that air can go out when needed..like when the pressure gets built up inside the airbox you need a hole so that excess air can get out when need be.. i dont know if that made sense. :)

Here's what I threw together last weekend. Just a trial system atm! But seems to be pretty effective! :)

That looks clever. How quickly can you remove the shrouding for servicing?

A lot of you would have seen the air pressure test I did... If not, here it is...
Image
Link to thread is http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=72008

I like the work I.Rectum and NCLane have done on the standard airbox. Brilliant... I just want to draw attention to the pressure testing that actually shows the area at bottom of plastic in front of wheel arch to be pathetically devoid of pressure. If that 3" intake was out the front.... Well now, that would be awesome.

Here's an excerpt from another thread of mine....

blah blah discovered that the throttle when holding 5000rpm uses about the same amount of air pressure that is available at the front headlight when traveling at 70km. Guess you could go all mathematical on my a*** and say that at 5000rpm @ 3.95L per rev.... 19750L a minute... How much air would pass through a 3" hoop at 70km/h per hour?

icon_arrow.gif A 3" circle has approx 50 CM2 according to
Radius squared times PI.
icon_arrow.gif When moving at 70km/h you are doing 19.44 metres a second.
icon_arrow.gif 19.44 x .5 x 60 = 583 metres cubed?....

583,000 L a minute can pass through a 3" circle traveling at 70km/h.

Therefore, I suppose, is the evidence that I should put the air box back into the car and chop a 8" hole in the front with a cone reducing to three inch before air box.

At 70k an hour I am forcing extra air into the throttle body than it can use. Ho hum.

My air system works okay, and better than most according to educated guesses, but how about that yellow section, above?

Here's mine, it's been seen before, but here goes... Image

All good, .... Image

And here's one photo with the pod dropped in hole..
...........................................Image

And that's the lot for the time being.

Have found that the air pressures in and around wheel arch are useless - as is anything under the car. The original snorkel is in a good position but to make use of it you really should get rid of the bonnet in front of it!!!!!

Go on - someone do it..... ..... ;)
