Hello,
I have only the one ride and not much $$$ so I like to be very sure before I attempt anything. I'll ask the experts here :D

With a full tank of petrol I'll be lucky to get 270kms and the idle is slightly crap.

Changed a few things, not much difference. The fuel regulator has been tested. Its currently running at 380kpa instead of 270kpa.
I have a Gregory's.
The fuel reg looks easy enough to change but I have a question,
Do you have to work from underneath to 'release the clamp and disconnect the fuel return hose from the return pipe'. I can't find a pic of the return pipe?

The ECU is has to be changed also.
If I put in an XR6 ECU with a fuel reg thats 300kpa will everything else be OK, what I mean is could it cause any problems any where else as my car is gli. I do have another ecu for gli.
Thanking u in advance.

ef? el?

How'd you know theres 380kpa?
XR ecu will prolly run better on the stocko 270kpa reg.

Much easier to remove the fuel pump relay and run the car till it stops, then crank it for a while so theres no fuel left. then undo the 2x10mm bolts on the fuel reg and replace it with another one and new o-ring.

This way u dont have fuel everywhere.

Have you tried replacing the Fuel filter?

EF, fuel reg running at 380kpa coz its f#cked

will change fuel filter as well

I understand the bit about reducing fuel pressure to prevent petrol going everywhere, cheers :)

I just wonder if the fuel reg can be changed over from the top of the engine, without having to get underneath.

forget the tickford fuel reg. guys with real xr6's make more power with the standard reg.

check all the common things, cat converter, timing, oxy and map sensors, all that stuff. clean the ISC. that should help with the economy

Changed over ISC, MAP (is there more than 1 map sensor?),oxy, injectors, pvc valve, TPS.
Next in this order, fuel reg, ECU, fuel filter, fuel pump.

i had a EA once that had the harmonic balancer slip, put the timing way out. Had to set it finding TDC with coathanger. Not sure if the later cars do it.

Although you have EF, f**k coil packs. hmmmm
