Evening all -
Went to have the car tuned today, couldn't get a proper power reading.
Was bouncing off the 180km limiter in 3rd.
I know that there are issues with the steel tailshafts above 180.

I've seen a few posts stating that a two piece tailshaft is required.
Any rough idea on price anyone?

Also, once the tailshaft is replaced, will switching out the standard ECU with an XR unit be likely to kill the limiter?

Trying to avoid a flash tune, already have a Unichip installed.

Driving over 180 is kind of a goal at the moment.
Having the engine rebuilt to Speedway specs, so speed is good.
(No, I'm not 18, no I don't intend driving over 180 on public roads 8-) )

Cool.

So just switch out the ECU then?

Other point I was curious about, would the alloy two part tailshaft be less weight than the steel?

I would really suggest having the alloy tailshaft if you plan to remove the limiter, I wouldnt risk the steel one to it.

Cool.
Good advice.
After the rebuild, I'm expecting the car to be able to hit fairly high speeds.
Maybe the alloy tailshaft, as well as the hoops.

Hey kayden the biggest hoon ive seen in melton is the kick boxing poof in his yellow monaro every time he takes off or goes around a corner it's full throttle, last night their was a crappy comm leaving the Q bar tired doing a burn out it took 10mins to get any speed up on the wheels.

There really are some total tools around here.
And most of em seem to drive Holdens.
Let's see, how do we build a car that's FULLY SICK?

Let's take a VK Commonwhore, chop the springs, get some neons, put a five inch exhaust on it, throw in a monster tacho with shift light (doesn't matter that it's an auto man, it's FULLY SICK), fit a mini spool, some big rims and a $500 stereo who's only up side is bass. Doesn't matter if you can't hear what the song's supposed to be, it's FULLY SICK!

Then I'm sure we'll be able to kick a***!

Why is it that the EA hasn,t got a speed limiter, and steel tailshaft? maybe they made the shafts better then?
I had my EA to 190 and no shakes.
Had an EL GT to 185 and it shook like hell, so much for the carbon wrapped tailshaft to stop high speed whip, eh?
By the way, the speedo in the EA is accurate as tested with GPS & at the VDO guys workshop.

Just because a car doesnt have a speed limiter doesnt mean is a-ok to drive at whatever speed you like.

And I doubt the GT was shaking because of the driveshaft. By the time you feel the drive shaft moving its because its just come through the floorpan.
