Hey guys, im planning to get a custom tune in about two weeks and was wondering if there are any suggestions on maximizing my power from my current mods. I did an oil change using royal purple 10w-40 as I do every oil change and I have new spark plugs which are about 5 months old " Bosch Fusion Platinum". And of course clean out my K&N filter. The past two weeks ive also put in octane booster to clean out the injectors etc.
Are there any other idea's/suggestions that I could benefit more from the custom tune. Thanks!

i wouldnt get it tuned while running octain boost, if its tuned on the fuel with octain boost you might have to run the octane boost all the time otherwise you may get pinging without it..

Naw I wasn't going to do that just wanted to sort of clean the system out a bit before i did it Thx though. I had that thought at first but wasnt sure if there would be any draw backs.

I thought the octane booster dirtied up the plugs making them brownish? I am too interested in what I should have done before tuning so the car is at its best, eg service just before a tune, clean filters etc

To my knowledge I know that octane booster helps clean out the fuel line and the fuel injectors but not really aware of them doing bad things to the plugs, but im sure over an extended time of continuously using octane booster it might have some effect. I guess anythings possible! Thanks for the reply though! 8-)

If you have never replaced the O2 sensor, always a good idea to replace them. They aren't cheap but they also don't last forever. Since your car is a 2004, might be a good time to replace them if they are still from factory.

Hit up papasmurf, he can source an aftermarket o2 sensor for like 1/5th of the price of genuine, works perfectly fine - i am running one now

hey sry for the quik hi-jack. would the gains be worth getting your car tuned for 98 over 95?
or would it be soo minimal that its almost un-noticeable?

Sorry dude not really sure. The tuner insisted on 98 ron to be in the car which isnt a problem because thats what I fill up with everytime. I cant imagine it being a great deal of a difference but I guess Id rather have the best in it at the time of tuning then not. Hopefully someone else can give a better answer!

If it's an aggressive tune on 98 ron it will probably ping running on 95, but an aggressive tune on 95 would have less power. It would depend on what fuel you can get every day i suppose

Ok, using 98 over 95 and 91 benifits in a few ways, its proven that u get more kilomoters out of 98, second of all its better for ur engine, so keep using the best fuel, and u wont go wrong when u end up getting that custom tune on 98, better performance , or better fuel economy when not pedal to the floor, only downside which was brought up before is u have to keep using 98 after the tune, untill u switch back to normal tune , which u should get the device on pick up, herrod motorsport.com.au, is the best tuners for our cars, well ba bf fg anyway, not sure about older falcons.
other small mods u must make sure u have before u get the tune include a full exhaust system including extractors, pod filter enclosed, or k&n filter (panel) in ur factory box, if using factory cut out a hole in the front the factory air box, but make sure its cut underneath the actual filter level, ull get more air from behind the headlight,...
underdrive pully 20% is a good mod which ill be doing soon, about 10 rwkw increase.
and crow cams, (20 rwkw gain) (if u have a full exhaust already) other wise dont bother, also cams need to be tunes when installed so best bet is to have all the above, then take ur cams to a herrodmotorsport specialist and get the custom tune at the same time of cams.
any Q plz pm me..
