I picked up an RSM for my car, and we can't find an appropriate tacho wire.

Tried the cluster, but that wasn't reading properly for some reason.

Tried the diagnostics plug, and that was pretty spot on, but was VERY laggy (ie. when I rev to 4000, the RSM would only read up to about 2500 and then make it's way back down.

Next stop is the ECU, so I need to know what wire it is in there please. I have the 104 pin manual EF XR8. Can anyone help??

Cheers

We found the pink wire on the right hand side of the cluster (can't remember what colour stripe it had, but I can only assume it was pink/green, as we used the same document), but the reading was very erratic.

It would go from 0, up to 30, stay at 30 for half a second, then just stay on 0 until you disconnected the wire & did it again. Not quite sure what was wrong with it.

When we pull it out again, will see if I can find a pink/blue one.

Wire is pink with dark blue stripe goes to RH instrument cluster plug pin 7 and is a pulsed signal which is converted in the instrument cluster processor  :D
