I was looking at the coil/tach terminal... so what are going to connect to for that in an EF ? Well that diagram is obvioulsy based on MS-1, and doesnt take into account the MSnS software. You'll need to find some MSnS specific info regarding EDIS, or running 3-4 coilpack wasted spark. The only reason the coil is illustrated in that pic is showing how the MS can pick up RPM.

IIRC the hardware mods which are required for MSnS-E see the following done:
-One of the LEDs is rewired. This becomes the spark out put. -Alternativelty the FastIDLE (ISC) function can be removed and this output becomes the SPOUT. See: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-msns.html I am unsure if the diagram brad posted is applicable to MS... MS only has a SPOUT signal, almost seems like need some form of external EDIS hardware to do what Motec does in-house...

Yep, in that case it looks like you're going to need an actual EDIS-6 module from a US Ford 6cyl.
Although I'm sure the EDIS will need more than just SPOUT, it will need to know which of the 3 coils to fire. Are we sure MSnS is EDIS ready? Most aftermarket ECU's have more than 1 ignition output for just this reason. In the case of the MoTeC M800 you can run up to 12 individual igntion outputs

Yes, sounds like it.... from what i can gather (please note my research efforts have concentrated on TFI ignition) the EDIS module receives its own signal regarding the crank position. It appears that MS tells the EDIS system when to charge and fire, the EDIS system figures out which coil to fire... http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... uneed.html And.. http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... .html#edis "EDIS mode Controls Ford EDIS ignition module for wasted spark distributorless ignition Can be installed on most even fire 4,6,8 cylinder 4 stroke automotive engines Requires a 36-1 trigger disc mounted on the crank, many Fords from 1990 onwards already have the trigger disc or teeth cut into the flywheel. Suitable discs are available new and used. Has been installed on a few rotaries. EDIS has a quoted upper limit of 9000rpm, but in practice some have seen 9300 or 10500rpm The EDIS install offers a DIY ignition solution on engines that are distributorless from the factory. Oh well, that's that then. Time for people to start sourcing US EDIS-6 modules!
Unfortunately theres no way to utilise the internal EDIS6 in our EEC-V's, since we cant inject the SAW signal Could always convert your EF's to Dizzy. They're cheap as chips, and will save alot of complications. Then you can also look toward MSD solutions

ARGH!
Either way, sourcing EDIS6 from the US or converting to dizzy = What's involved in converting back to a dizzy set up ? I guess throwing a dizzy set up in from scratch would make it easier to hook up the MS...

well i bought useless edis modules then didnt i lol.
well i know its easy to drop a dizzy in to a ef or au motor a mate just did it but i dont want that dam it. wat is the deal with msII does that allow it?

ok will the spark work fine with standard ecu and control fuel with the ms?
is there a real gain in controling spark?

MSII is pretty much a processor and software update. As it uses the same main PCB, box and connections as MSI... i would assume the EDIS functions are the same. Nothing wrong with a TFI dizzy setup....

It might be worth looking into the part of the the EECV / edis system that is missing. It mightn't be that hard to knock up a circuit that does the same thing... but I doubt it! To keep this vaguely on topic, I might start another thread on coil packs and dizzy set ups and the pros and cons. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... 005#150005

Only thing with controlling ignition with EEC is that you must ensure EEC receives sufficient inputs to keep itself from entering limited operating strategy.
If you remove something that EEC wants/needs to see and it enters LOS i would expect timing to be locked at some performance-crippling level of advance... this is how it works with TFI, i assume EDIS the same?

so really i need to control both then....
my uncle just moved to america recently so he might be able to get his hands on a us 6-edis module that would solve it yes? i will have a look at the dizzy setup
