g'day cobbers

just wondering if anyone has got an idea on how to retard timing on startup only. My f150 is on straight gas so there is more initial timing and although total is less it comes in earlier than normal.

This has killed my starter twice. you can hear it struggleing to turn over and if id doesn't start the first or second time the starter gets way to hot and won't throw in. last night after waiting 1.5 hours that's $1for extra parking. I unbolted the starter in a parallel park on a busy street and put ice on it so I could get home.( half way through i locked my keys in and right hooked the window open...messy)

I am going to get a gear reduction starter to help as the old clapper style ain't up to the job but I think some sort of time delay box maybe one of those nitros thingys hooked up to come in when starter is firing might add years to battery and starter life. also save my windows

any help/suggestions would be greatly appreicated.
