makes sence, it might be high flow unoiled(then dust can get in) but the oil clogs it up, all they are good for is their ability to be cleaned and reused,

I like how they showed in a previous video that a turbo back exhaust only made a 1 awkw gain before a tune. They show that you can't just simply 'bolt on' power. The exhaust and induction mods provide a good background for further mods, though.

what it shows is that bolting an exhaust and pod on a std engine with a factory tune will do f**k all...

Well with a pod set up without a box, you'd lose power due to engine heat. I would say that's what happened with the turbo one, first run was good (engine bay probably cooler), second run would have had a warmer engine bay due to the first run so reduced power? That's the way I saw it. Panel filter is sheltered from excess heat and thus gives a slight advantage.
I was interested to see the panel filter comparisons though...however they only did one run of the K&N one, was hoping for another run to see reproducibility. This reminds me, I have to clean my filter...

In my opinion, I never really thought that the K&N added more power at all. All I found was that the throttle response was a better. And the part about dust being attracted to the K&N oils, sooooooooo true, my car felt a bit sluggish over the past two or three weeks, then when I checked the filter, daaaaaamnnnnn that thing was filthy. Cleaned it and car was all good. Having said that, I think that it needs a service.

do pod filters even have the same surface area as a panel filter? because if not theres strike 1 for being s**t! i know you can get different sized ones, the thing people dont realise is boxes are designed a certain way for a reason, it does help air flow after it enters the air box..well thats what i read about them anyway

I clean mine whenever I change my oil as they do attract a lot of dust!
