Hey Mike,

We can do up a Custom Pre-Programmed Chip to suit the AU Tickford motor running off the EF ECU. If you run premium fuel, we can also add some advance to suit. If you plan to fit a new camshaft to the AU motor it'd be best to get that tuned now too, but all of our chips can be retuned later by us, a dealer, or anyone with one of our programmers. I'll also need to know whether its Auto or Manual.

Just drop us a PM with the final details, and you can order at http://www.tiperformance.com.au/buy.php referencing the PM and your forum nickname in your order description.

Cheers,
Jason

best sources to data log for tuning?

- RPM
- TPS
- MAF? (is it a 0-5V signal, or something weird like the I6 MAP?)
- WBO2 of course.

Anything else/different?

That's a great start!

MAF is 0-5v so simple to log. VSS is good if you want to time 0-100 runs for improvement. IAT can also be handy , but more for boosted setups.

Jason

thanks. Will add IAT (or ACT as they seem to be calling it).

Only have one pulse input, that's for RPM, so VSS will be skipped (no biggie).

Hey guys I was wondering if there are any place around Reservoir, Melbourne that deal with the J3 chip tuning ??

I have dealt with CVE before but I need something a bit closer as I can't run the car until it's back on the dyno.

Cheers

Hey bud,

We don't have one in Reservoir. You can see a map of all of our Dealers at http://www.tiperformance.com.au/dealers.php

Thanks mate :)

I had a look and nothing all that close to me, looks like it will have to be chucked on a trailer and taken to the nearest turner.

Fair enough bud. Can always do a base tune to get you able to drive to a dealer, if it helps - PM/email me if interested.

Much appreciated Jason :)
I'll let you know if I need to setup a base tune with you

Tuning the Auto Transmission

Using the new trans edit features in our defs, we can edit the shift patterns and line pressure of the Auto trans. The following parameters are available:

• Transmission LHM Stall Speed – the engine RPM above which, if there is no signal from the VSS (ie. You are not moving), there is a fault and the transmission goes into LHM.
• Shift Schedules – these tables define at what throttle % and what RPM the transmission will shift.
• Trans TQ lock/unlock curve – these tables define when the torque convertor will lock/unlock.
• Transmission Line Pressure – this table alters shift feel by setting the line pressure in the transmission. This is similar to a S5 solenoid mod, or electronic shift kit, but allows you to edit the line pressure by RPM and throttle %. The below pic is an example table from my boosted EF; you will have to adjust these values to suit an N/A setup.

This post is a summary from our recently updated tuning guides, available at http://www.tiperformance.com.au/documents.html

Jason

My standard EL Fairmont Ghia is soon to receive a CMS stage 3 head with stage 2a cam, a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back exhaust, high flow cat and pacemaker 4499 extractors.

Would I see any benefits in getting my car tuned with these mods?

Thanks much.

hey all,

been reading through and seeing progress with the j3 chips capabilities.

i have looked into getting one myself but im wondering.. how hard is it to tune yourself? and are there any advantages over getting a pre programmed custom tune? im not new to tuning. my previous car had a ems 4424 and i made the map for that car from scratch. just it was boosted and heavily modified.

only mods to my au ii are extractors, high flow cat, 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust, big mouth intake and KnN filter.

going by some of what i have read in the previous pages its possible to change shift times as well. is this possible on the au auto?

any help/advice would be appreciated.

thanks for you time.

Howdy mate,

If you have tuned before you should be able to pick this software up pretty easily. Have a read of the guides on the site.

We don't currently have shift maps for the AU but with the mods you have listed I don't think you would need to touch the auto.

Cheers,
Jason
