The only reason its a bad idea is for economy/emissions reasons. If you drive the car on the street, it'd be a good idea to hook it back up. It shouldn't cause any problems if the base tune is good.

Jason

Yesterday we went down to the dyno at Hallam Performance, and with a hand from Paul at CVE Performance we touched up the tunes and got some numbers from our two supercharged Falcons!

Check out this video of Simon's EB on the dyno. I won't mention the number here but we're pretty happy with the result from the old EB.

It sounds stock and effortless! Would be a great daily for sure.

I also have a question Jason, if you want to change a tune from auto to manual, is it just a case of unticking the box for the transmission flag? Or is there more to it?

It idles and cruises great, the 977b is a great cam for a mild motor, easy to tune too.

Depends on the model. Normally I recommend copying your changes over to a manual base bin. If you have a ghia (and need SPSS), run the ghia bin with the trans flag set, and don't forget to use a manual dashpot (to get a nice return to idle with the manual gearbox).

Cheers,
Jason

I'm making an n9xj2 def for my WABE ECU (working from the n9xj4 def and fixing the addresses), so far everything seems to work fine except for one small detail. In the spark mpg table the row and column list keeps disappearing whenever I reopen the def file, iam saving it of course. Any idea why this is happening ?
It's using the table scaler for map, and rpm just like the other spark tables and they are keeping it just fine :S

Hey mate,

Bit of an odd one. Which version of TunerPro are you using? Are the two scalers properly defined?

V5, latest download from their site.
Not sure why but when I deleted the spark mpg table to make it again I noticed it made the next one in line do the same, so now I've solved the problem by putting a table in there where spark mpg was and it seems ok. It just doesn't like whatever is in that exact spot in the list :S

Anyway I think I've ported it across.

It also has the base WABE file in there, I believe it also works with WTCC which is in your files section and what I used to first fix things up before getting an eec reader to use mine. Might be of use to others in the future.

Iam a noob at this sort of thing so feel free to check it first if you have some spare time, but it seems to be all working ok in my car.

Hmm. I do all of my def editing in V4 to maintain compatibility with both versions (V5 defs can't be used in V4, but V4 work in V5), so maybe that's why I haven't seen anything like this before. Good workaround! :)

Your XDF looks pretty sound! I would remove the ** prefix for the additional parameters you've found, just to make it clear which parameters are defined and which aren't.

Good job!!

One I need to do is add the trans tables to the AU defs. One day when I have time!

Cheers,
Jason

I've redone it in v4, better to be more compatible plus it fixed that weird problem I had with the spark mpg table.

Also it isn't a vct ecu (or car)

Nice work.

Right you are, I must have been a little tired when I checked over my box code notes

Site updated.

As followers of the T.I. Performance Facebook page would have seen, a few weeks back we put a smaller pulley on the EF to see what it was capable of.

Last week we took it down to Hallam Performance, and Paul did a few power runs on the dyno. The result, after a quick tweak to the tune:

We're pretty stoked with this figure out of the auto. The timing is severely retarded up top due to no intercooler or meth injection - if we could keep the timing in the peak figure would be even more impressive, but the low end difference is huge.

Nice work! Makes me want to keep spending to get some boost on this fresh engine I'm fitting to the Eb Ghia soon.

Cheers

I think I should be able to get the transmission stuff sorted for the AU. I've done about %95 of it for the n9xj2 and the n9xj4 is very close so it's easy to fix the addresses up between the two. Just having a bit of a nervous breakdown over a couple tq lock curve defs.

Do you happen to know if the 4DDG (ef xr8)bin works with the NVAF9 defs. ? It's hexfile is listed as NVAFC so that means it may not be the same ?

Nice!

Unsure about 4DDG as I don't have that bin. I'd expect differences if the hex code is different, but the main tables may line up. I have a basic def for 4DDF, but generally just use 4DED and set TSTRAT appropriately.

Jason
