Maybe go back to your last good tune.
If it comes good it must be something in the tune.
If it still goes lean it may be a sensor, vac leak, fuel, etc.

most sensor faults SHOULD make it go rich. i'd be looking at a possible issue with your fuel supply. (pump?, reg?) efxr6wagon you have a pm

I'd try the last good tune and see whether you have the same problem. Unless ECT/ACT have changed enough to make it richer/leaner, it could be a fuel supply issue.

Posting up your before/after VE maps to see whether you changed the top end much may also help.

Perhaps an ECU reset may be a good idea -- if it's been driven around very rich, it may have learned large negative fuel trims as a result.

Well, it's fixed. I'm not sure what fixed it, but this is what I did:
- reset the ECU
- unplugged the chip and put it back in to make sure it was well-seated
- filled the tank with petrol (it was down to about 20%)
I did not touch the tune.

My guess is that it was getting mild fuel starvation during the acceleration run from the fuel sloshing to the back of the tank. Thanks, ranga83, for suggesting fuel supply as the cause. You live and learn.

Thanks for all the help.

Makes sense. Mine also leans out when I wind out third if it's below quarter tank line.
I would expect auto's would be even more prone to this, at least a manual gets the chance to have a drink when you change gears.

Must be going better with that tune then, if it's created a starvation problem you never noticed before.

My tuning gear should be here tomorrow :D , thanks T.I. Performance (Jason).

Can't wait to start playing with it. (the tune that is, stop giggling)
Think I'm starting to get my head around TunerPro.
Now gotta work out the configuration side of WinLog. Got me a 3E2 WBo2 controller. Yay.

I rarely let it drop below 1/4 tank, and have never done full ramp runs with it below that, so never experienced the problem before. Can you picture an N/A with a surge tank?

And, yes, she goes much better  . The midrange is superb, and throttle response is awesome. I have had to pull about 5 degrees of spark out at 3000-3500 rpm to maximise acceleration (and avoid pinging), just like the factory tunes. So the engine must have been tuned to absolutely pack the charge in at that sweet spot.

I also have the tune pretty much sorted for the high stall. It's a blast to drive now. No drama - just boogie. The extra torque has overcome most of the part-throttle looseness you get with a high-stall. When I'm finished, I will post what I have ended up with.

It starts running out of puff at 5500rpm, but it's still worth hanging on to 5800rpm in 1st as the 2.39 ratio is still producing more torque at the wheels than 4000rpm in 2nd at 1.45 ratio. I felt it tapering off, so dropped the shift point by 300 rpm and my 1/4 mile times slowed down by about .15 sec. So, I have bumped the shift point back up.

Oh, and this automatic definitely does not get to take a drink between gears. I have more than doubled the trans line pressure at WOT and redline, so it shifts very tight but not harsh or hard. I'm not interested in breaking anything. The shift takes about .25 sec, instead of the .7 sec it did with factory tune   .

I put a J3 on my AU2 XR8 and it works fine BUT the aircon is on all the time. Anyone know why this happens? Thanks

It's a problem that happens on some AUs. The work around is to add a relay on the AC output from the ECU that is triggered by the AC button.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what the 'Spark Table #4 Alt' is used for?

Cheers.

Seems i'm not getting email alerts from this thread for some reason.

Some of the alt tables are to do with LPG mode timing, depends on which def you're referring to.

Answered the question about wiring on Facebook and via email. Not going to answer it three times!

Cheers,
Jason

( New here ) So clearly this wouldn't work with a standard EA 1 3.9Lmpi manual ECU? Seeing as the first page of this thread states vehicles supported are to be EB onwards. Quite interested ( Mixture issues ).
