While we do have some rudimentary support for the MPFI EA ECU, i'd strongly recommend plugging an EL one in. Much better support.

Cheers,
Jason

I was reading about the recommended EL ecu, just didn't really fancy the idea of all the mods needed. Is this yet open to real-time adjustments? Don't mind modding to support it if need be.

As for limitations, how would the EA ECU deliver, rather what can/can't it support in terms of features with the DIY kit. Mostly looking at this for fixing current issues / future mods.

When you say "all the mods needed" I assume you are referring to the one wire sometimes needed to be switched for the trip to continue working. No other mods are required. Real time is not supported, but neither is it on a BA+, yet our tunes burn 2-3 times quicker.

Cheers,
Jason

Just wonder how much more I can go with my line pressures in both Econo and Power Mods

Below is a screen shot of my pressures so far.

Any more information will be great.

I've been reading on EL ecu into EA falcon conversions noting it doesn't seem to exactly resemble the idea of " plug and play ", Smartlock bypass, knock sensor, BBM manifold, Auto ecu into manual bypass ect... All of these little things in which i do hope aren't needed. Don't mind me I'm not exactly experienced in this area ( yet ). If you could shed some light on the ecu swap that'd be greatly appreciated ( If it doesn't require a lot of little modifications. )

Thanks. :)

You literally just plug it in.
You can bypass smartlock with the chip and make it auto/manual with the chip.
You don't need a bbm to use an EL Ecu or a knock sensor.

You don't mention your engine mods, but the more torque you are producing, the more line pressure you will need to get a firm shift. If you are getting a bang or chirp on shifting, back it off a little, otherwise use what works.

Jason

Forgive me, i am new to this but tuning is pretty much impossible without some kind of datalogger, or is there a way to get all of the data from the el ecu without emptying my wallet, seeing as the j3 chip would come blank i'd need data to burn to it ( Which would require a datalogger setup to get the data first am i right? ) Any and all information that can be provided is greatly appreciated, i suppose you can't put a price on learning! :)

Oh wow, stock bins available, cheers for that. All i wanted to do was load in a stock def/bin and tune air / fuel without needing to log the data. Seems this is going the way i wanted, Cheers.

Sorry Jason

My El Fairmont is standard engine wise except for a 2.5" Mandrel Bent exhaust, extractors and a K&n Panel Filter. I do not feel. I need to do a cam or any engine mods at the moment, Only just done 200k and still runs sweet.

Jason i'm just confirming that i should load the EA - ED bin onto the EL ecu? Or will the EL bin on the EL ecu work with all of the EA sensors / instruments (I don't see how that'd work ) Or can it work either way? Cheers.

You must use a matching bin/def for the ECU. This is covered in the FAQ and tuning guides.

Jason
