In two and four bank bins, its labelled. Search for the ASCII text Ford.

There are also plenty of bins documented on the site.

Cheers,

Thanks...

just opened the bin in notepad...and yes found both the ids clear as day...

but found some small issues which i find confusing...

eg this from the ascii search..
ÿNVAG83.HEX*ÿÿ 96DAGC *ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿCopyright Ford Motor Co.

this NVAG83 code doesnt match the def u say to use for 6dgc, ur site says NVMG84...

also found this...

NVMG84.HEX*ÿÿ 96DAFC *ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿModifiedÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿRPD.bin.aaaÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿCopyright Ford Motor Co. 1996

"Modified RPD.bin". whys this in there....this is not a factory bin im guessing...

are these labels added by u guys or r they put in there by ford?...im mean all of lables eg nvmg84 and not just the modified rpd which clearly must have been added...

i had a look at an A9L bin out of curiosity and didnt find anything like the above...

the nvmg84 def will work with the 6dgc. the tables etc are in the same spot.

Yep, sometimes the strategy changes are so small that the identified parameters line up.

Use a hex editor to view the bins. HxD is a good start.

I use both HxD and hexplorer. Both pretty handy

Thx guys...

So ive got an NL fairlane 5.0...

Stock for now...

I was thinking of tweaking the tune anyway just to see if it picks up anything...i run 98 95% of the time...

i dont like how much fuel it uses on warmup but...and also under 2500 is pretty ordinary...

next step is extractors and explorer intake...

would like to see what the factory did to ign and fuel for the EL2 XR8 185kw...as this is what ill basically have when extractors and intake go on...

So does anyone have a EL XR8 185kw bin?

Will be on the ti site if there is one there. Go down the bottom of tuning files to additional binaries

Had a look there, but not sure what the catch code for EL2 185KW is...

and all the other catch codes there are for non 185 xr8s

If you are customising the tune there is little to no reason to start from a 185 tune, especially with a MAF tune.

Of course, I want to have a look for educational purposes before i dive straight in and start changing..

As far as i can tell the 6DHE is the 185kw tune...

Does anyone have that?

Hi guys can u confirm the origin of the 6TJC...u have it listed simply as "ghia"...

However a google search suggests it may be EL GT...

also being NVAG88 would NVAG84 be ok to use for the def?

..............................

Also is there some logic to the strategy names...
eg auto v8 ecus have a "A" in the 3rd position...nvAg8c, nvAg89, nvAg83

The manual EL V8 ECUS have a "M" in the 3rd posn... nvMg84, nvMg86

forth posn is an "F" for ef v8, "G" for el v8s...maybe indicates a hardware change...

First 2 letters may indicate the strategy family eg if its GUFB, A9L, CBAZA etc

What do u think?

Sorry, that's all the info I have on that bin unfortunately. I have PM'd another member who has an EL GT, will let you know if he replies.

The 84 and 86 strategy variants have some subtle differences. I haven't looked at the 88, you'd have to have a look in TunerPro and see how the data lines up.

I've given up trying to decode the strategy names, every time I find a pattern I find another exception :)

Cheers,
Jason

Checking 6TJC, the slopes are 24lb, so I'd say that's right. I just can't confirm as I don't have notes on where the bin came from.
