I'm running a standard ea throttle body and intake. If the el one is compatible it may tell me my standard one is knackered.

Hi i have found a ecu with the catch code 3DDB can anyone tell me what it is to as i can not find it on this site, thanks

Looks like an XG Manual.

No. A 3DDB = early XG auto

The 6 cylinder XG ecu codes follow the same rule as the sedans. The second letter is always an A for manual ecus.

The 6 cylinder XG manual ecu's are 3DAA, 3DAB, 3DAC, 3TAA (Tickford XR6 manual)

OK I have a series 2 Ute six...just converted from auto to manual transmission. Looking for a stage 1 chip to convert ecu from auto to man...everything is standard...except its got extractors only . Do I need any other function changes in my chip ...other than the tune change to suit man gearbox? I am unsure about smartlock and immobilizer ....I don't know what version I have but I like to keep everything standard ....what do I need to supply to get this set up right :-).

Yes I did ..thanks ....I had a look inside my car today ....and noticed that the ecu was fitted with 1 ford rivet/bolt...on the open side ..which has the ecu earth strap under it as well.....does this mean I have to cold chisel the rivet /bolt ..and it will all just slide out ...because I figure the ecu shell and earth strap need a tight fit to car body for earthing..to refit the ecu and strap ..will I have to use a self tapper screw..or bolt..I don't want to be left without a car just to get the label code ..they should have placed the sticker on the bottom...lol.....I am just checking ....first

Hey Jason, quick question,

Can the J3 Chip be removed for minor VE table etc tweaks without disconnecting the battery each time?

Cheers mate,

Yes mate. The battery only needs to be removed to clean the J3 port.

Cheers,
Jason

Well after purchasing the chip ...and let me say ....for removing the computer from a au series 2 Ute.....the following applies....using a small sanding disk ....sand aka grind the head off the rivet headed bolt...then ...using a Stanley knife score the black plastic which has a contoured curve ...about 1.5 inches further and cut off ......this will allow for hinging of the metal retraining strap for the computer ....you will note that the a fixed connector join above the centre bolt which secures the computer connector cable ...needs to be gently pried to enable ease of movement of the computer cable...,the thread of the bolt you have ground out will reveal a small thread .....that now once you done above is removable..........now after I cleaned the j3port contact points with fine wet and dry ..this left the port shiny...then I fitted by new chip ....and it did not work! Firstly..it would not start without peddle use ...then it idled at 1000rpm for brief moment and died...further starts with disconnection of battery on 2 or 3 attempt ....proved useless..even with further peddle use ...it sounded bad ..and refused to idle...the base idle was set at about 650 when the auto was removed and manual fitted as the base idle with auto was closer to 950rpm...the car had this new chip removed because ..its just not working right...so what's the fix ....please ty phil

With chip in, does the fuel pump prime then stop? Or continue priming with key on engine off?
