What input does the ECU have in the SS p/s? Little to none I would have thought?

Havent heard of any converted manual ghia owners complain about this before, not sure why it would be a problem with a chip.

I heard that you need a SS P/S rack as well as they are different to standard?

You do need to have started with a car that had the speed sensitive steer, maybe its a V8 thing, but it does take it away if you run an XR8 tune on the Fairmont/Fairlane Ghia's.

Is the default setting drivable?

Doubt youd get it working in a manual bin without access to the source code.

Update on programmers & chips:

To cover increased costs of parts etc, and to cover the costs of producing the definitions, its looking like the chips will be around $90 blank inc postage, and programmers a similar price. I hope to get a revised prototype programmer early next week; from there once tested we can start selling.

Cheers,
Jason

I dont think that its in the source, Ive just not defined it in the parameters as there is only 1 byte difference between the manual and auto bins in the program code. Maybe Ive defined it as something else from the legacy code, Ill have to have a play with one of my mates 5ltrs and see if I can find it. For the moment its just eaier to put in a manual bin and live without the speed sensitive steering, it still works as power steering, but doesnt go all soft and doughey when your in carpark mode.

Jaysen is right, without the SSPS it works the same as every other Falcon. power assisted, but the level of assistance doesn't change.

yer but that not in action yet but will be next week thanks to the factory fuel and spark maps i got off the definitions. i just got to fine turn the factory map now. but me and mate are set up a race car for us to race and have some fun with on the weekends at the track which is where your chip will come handy.

no worries. everything in the definitions (except for the earlier stuff with a ** in front) has been tested and is working.

hey mate you wouldn't of have found the warm up enrichment curve in the binary yet??? if you have that would be wicked if i could get that into my MSII she would start up and idle smoother.(also helps if i up the rev's from 600rpm)

also
any acceleration enrichment curves would also work a treat

and finally
any ISC operation condition and spec's(yer my isc is threw the MSII but is some what a pain in the a** so i just turned it off on the laptop.

thx jason

accel enrich we dont have either.

perhaps start another thread for this!

cheers,
Jason

I've just checked out my car (1997 fairmont ghia) and the catch code is 6DJB. Will any of the binaries available at techcore.com.au work? If not, how do I go about getting the binary off my ECU to the PC?

read above, you can replace the bin on your ECU with one from the site.
