Have you guys thought of setting up a forum on the techcore site?

do u guys have another place to discuss this stuff?

Q. is there any software/hardware that can interface with the ECU via the J3 to get live data out of it...ie MAP, prm, sort term fuel trim etc....similiar to OBDII style scanners?

I can see that there are heaps of bins loaded onto techcore site.

for each bin a def needs to made, yes?

the defs that are on that site, are they to suit any particular bin? also i dont understand the naming of the defs, I would have thought u would name them the same as the bins ie 6dbd.xdf that way we know what bin they are meant for?

am i understanding this right?

Yup Tweecer, but you need either Binary Editor or Calcon/CalEdit to run it, and good luck getting a definition to suit the 4ltrs, it was hard enough to get one for the EL 5ltrs and they have a def similar to the GUFB. BE looks much friendlier and more advanced than CalCon/CalEdit which appears out dated big time, however Ive not RT played with either software, so I cant comment totally on which is better.

Other option is an Ostrich & Emu setup from Moates, however that wont allow you to view RT data, just RT tune only. This is what Ive got and I know that it works well with TunerPro. Moates have had a gadget in the making for a long time that will give you live data logging abilities similar to that of the Tweecer, however its still in the making.

so thats a yes its possible in theory to do RT logging but in reality not really unless uve got a US ecu...

regarding defs....what would be the basic procedure for finding the VE table in any bin? im guessing it would be the same size in all bins but located anywhere....

im guessing this is the most important table to modify when doing breathing mods to a motor...but the ecu must use a few other tables to reach its target AFR...correct?

P.S. whats the xdf naming based on? obviously not catch code..

XDF's are named after the strategy, and the strategy is labeled in the EECV onwards, so the EECIV you have to already know what it is, or find out of someone in the know. Ive not looked for a VE table, however it wont be hard to find. 5ltrs us a Peak Load @ Sea Level calc to give a load scale for other calcs to take place, but there is also another load scale used in other apps within the code. You are flying blind if you dont define a large portion of the bin, as there is so much linked together within it, that just changing a couple of things may not have the impact that your after. Browse over the attached PDF to understand what Im on about.

You dont "have" to get a US ECU to run a tweecer, there is a couple of guys on here with them running on the Aussie stuff, but you do need to spend either the time or money to get it working as the support and interest in it down here in Aus isnt great.

thought I'd plug the J3 chip in and take it for a test run yesterday.

Will give feedback within the week or so of how it is going :D. So far so good, besides the hanging revs.

if the DASMIN scalar has been defined in the 6 cylinder bin, then reduce it and this will stop your revs from hanging, also your DASHPOT DECRIMENT will also help, but start with the DASMIN.

Thanks Jaysen...but I don't have a clue what you are talking about . I just bought a pre-programmed chip to see if it helps with the rev drops to stalling point every time i push the clutch in with the auto ecu...so far it's working...too well lol

yeah the DASMIN is the Dashpot Minimum pre position for when your declutching, and is set to operate above a certian speed. The auto bins normally have the DASMIN set to zero, hence why your car stalls. Did you get one of Galapogos01's chips?

Good work guys, really getting me thinkin I want one of these.

How far do the capabilites of your chip extend? Pros/Cons? Can I expect to gain many kws?

EDIT: Think I might get one either way cause I need a manual ECU --how much are they with whatever I need that you have now and with the EF xr6 manual tune?

not yet, but feel free to sift through a late US EEC IV or early EEC V binary with an electronic auto, and maybe you might be able to find and share them with us. Ive not bothered as I dont like autos, and I dont really have one to play with anyway
