Thanks Jason

Just got the chip and programmer yesterday. The el maps work on the xh. Just to let everyone know.

Have started tuning for economy as the ute is piss poor for it. Using a vaccum gauge, wide band o2 and exhaust temp for lpg and petrol. Will up load bin when finished.

Cheers

Updated the site with a few minor things, some more progress being made on definitions, now have dashpot control (i.e. how the revs hang when you decelerate) and can override limp home mode on high stall speed amongst other things :)

Hey M,

How have you gone with the tuning?

Good, other than what I have send you in a pm, very good. (I don't think it needs to be brought up here). I will have a full report of what I have found with the xh. I have currently doing the fuel reg mod (as per the tech doc's) and have a fuel pressure around 305 +_ 5 psi. gauge is not that crash hot.. I am hoping this will allow me to run leaner on cruise with a little more advance. We will see soon.

Cheers

Great news about being able to tame the rev hang problem. So i will be able to fix this and reconnect my ics, woot! no more stalling!

Just using a manual BIN will do this; as the Manual BINs dont have anywhere near as much dashpot. The resistor trick might solve limp home mode but it doesnt give you the dashpot of a manual.

Dashpot changes will be more of a help for auto owners who raise base idle to deal with lumpy cams, then chew out brake pads and discs because the thing wants to keep moving all the time! (like me)

Just to clarify for my own lack of knowledge in this area - Rather than buy a manual computer out of a similar EF to mine, I could order a chip from you with the manual info on it, plug it in and be done with the whole mess of auto to manual confusion?

unfortunately even with the manual ecu's, bad rev hang is still an issue... however mine was fixed with a simliar J3 chip and runs perfect now!!

Right, at this exchange rate and my current income level, I will start saving now, and expect to place an order in 2009.

yes, and this is quite clearly stated on the site and in this thread. you will still need to deal with the neutral start circuit, but that's one wire. no resistor tricks required, no rev hang, behaves like a manual would.

you are effectively replacing the onboard flash memory for an auto with the j3 flash memory for a manual.

Yeahp - Thought I had read that clearly here before someplace, just thought I would clarify the situation - which you have now done. Thank you.

these chips sound awesome, but i have a few questions on them that i havn't read in any of the posts, i've read that you can 8 tunes with them does that mean they can only be tuned 8 times or can they be tuned an infinant amount of times with 8 different tunes eg daily, race, wet weather, lower octane fuel, if they can be tuned that many times can i buy a preprogramed chip to suit my ecu to use as a base map and a programer and adjust the igntion and fuel maps to suit my motor, cam, injector and turbo setup, i understand that with a fairly basic base map it would over fuel with big injectors and i may have other running issues but would i be able to tune them out after i get the preprogramed chip

With a programmer the chip can be reprogrammed as many times as you would like. The chip it's self can hold 8 tunes, which are selected via a series of jumpers on the front of the chip. Each tune is independent of each others allowing you to setup for daily, race, wet weather, lower octane fuel, etc.

What I did when I brought mine is this.

Purchased a chip and programmer.
Installed the software and downloaded the 64k bins and def from the web site.
Cleaned the j3 port as per the pdf. Drove the car.
Found the spark map for lpg a bit "doughy" modified the map and tried again. Repeat until I was happy. LPG is vapor ring not injected.
Then did ULP,PULP,Crap fuel and repeated the steps as per PDF.
Now I am onto HHO as I feel there will be huge gains to be made in cruise with the chip.

I hope this helps

In wich way did you modify to get rid of the doughy feeling, this has been driving me nuts personaly and i cant seem to get rid of it.

Anychance of sending m the modified bin or telling me what you changed so i can make the same changes THANKs!

and yes 1st post but have been watching this section since i bought my chip ad programmer awhile back.

Im running an El fairmont 6 cyl, wade 977b, verinier gear dialed in, pace makers 4480's with 2 1/2 inch back with only one muff and head is flowed to about 340 with compression lowered ever so slightly, gt snorkel, high flow panel filter, running a brand new sprint gas system with omvl model L converter, venturi style.

Any tips on tuning or personaly modified bins that have shown gains on gas would be welcome! :D
