I bought one of these Chips off eBay nearly 2 months ago and have only installed it today and its made a huge difference :) Very Happy

I have a 1995 Ford EF Fairmont with a 977B cam, Pacemaker 4480's, Magnaflow HiFlow Cat, 2.5" Red back System and 3.23

Got it preprogramed with a setting for EF XR6 with a 977b, extractors and exhaust

Very Impressed, much more responsive, can feel the extra power and ever better shifts :) (may be due to resetting ecu) but still over all worth cheap purchase price...................

It will only get better from here ....................

MontGas I am in the process of writing something up for this. Work and family is a little crazy atm being so close to chrissy. If jason allows, I don't want to hijack his tread I will post it up.

I can give you the bin but since it is in a xh ute (read ed engine). It will no be suited to your task.

The NL concorde bin that is there is for all intents and purposes an xr auto bin. Its the same engine.

If anyone in SE melbourne with an EL Auto XR6 reads this PM me and we can try to pull the bin.

this is not impossible for a 6cyl motor, if it had the same firing order, and you used a ford 36 tooth crank angle sensor and coilpacks, or a dizzy / TFI etc etc. in other words, itd probably be easier to use a 4L engine too.

you could probably get a 4cyl running on an A9L binary with an AFM, but thats not using the same definitions or code we are working on here.

The difference between those two seems pretty minor; the last digit generally refers to an update to the strategy. I didnt collect them so I cant confirm their source, I have them both listed as LPG. Either of these should be fine.

Would you be too worried to install an XR6 ECU? The change is almost identical. If you are in doubt, dont do it, but the changes are pretty minor and would be safe for most mild combos.

If in doubt, buy a NB02 gauge - Jaycar have kits for as little as $15 or you can buy premade gauges for under $100. Then you will know for certain if the car is running lean.

Me again, i went thru my spark maps and afr's savaged them up abit and i seem to have hit the sweet spot! put the chip in last night, hunting GONE lump GONE, and wipes crap in the face of petrol! i had it on petrol a few weeks ago no mixer setup for petrol felt pretty good over gas, but now this feels WAY better. put the throttle down some and it was like stepping on a land mine, i didnt expect it to take off like a shot! id be happy to share my modified bin. (keeping in mind its modified for GAS ONLY!)

Just adding to my post, id love to see a rip of a chiptorque chip or powerchip gold just to see really how much they change and where they think power gains are to be made. if anyone know where they look for power it would be appreciated!.

Nice work. I found similar gains in advancing the spark. My def is on the site. Please email me the bin file, it is good to share this stuff so people have somewhere to start.

As I have mentioned previously, you would be suprised how little ChipTorque actually change for $200+/hr (+ chip), even in a 'warm' setup. They have never pushed their Falcon tuning stuff very hard anyway (probably as they get more margin and more customers for their Xede product and tuning of Subis etc).

At any rate, as you have found out, it doesnt take much to get some benefits from a simple edit.

Will be good once we get a few of these on a dyno and start to work with tuners who know where the 4L sweet spots are.

an XR6 ECU could be anything up to $700 depending on how (un)lucky you are.
