Just ordered a J3 chip and programmer.

Going to be playing with it on my el with a snort stage 3 kit....so should be abit of fun!

If anyone in Adelaide is interested in playing around with these, get in touch with me... Two brains in some instances are better than one!

Jason, just a quick question. These chips have jumpers switches on them. Do you need to remove the chip to swap positions on the jumpers? I figure if I wont be RT tuning, I'll at least load up as many different settings, eg, peak load vs RPM so I can find what works the best without having to remove the thing off my ECU all the time. I figure that to switch jumpers, I'll at least have to disconnect the battery to clear the KAM and not fry the chip. Am I making any sense asking this?

i think you will find that as you tune you need to test each result to find out where you need to tune next (up or down, next rpm range, etc). you should power down the chip before switching bins. one trick the tweecer guys use is to keep one bank blank then power up on that bank. this causes the kams to be wiped.

you could leave the chip installed if you made a small switching harness to switch between banks.

HTH.

i tell ya what, these J3 chips and programmers are looking better & better value at the moment than whats already out there.

i just rang chiptorque to get my chip reprogrammed with no dyno tuning, and they want f**k $250 !!! Checked their website, and ALL their prices have gone up for no apparent reason. Theyre chips are now $800 EACH, gone up from $600. Programming has gone up from $100 to $250, and dyno tuning time is $200 an hour.

I always use to say they did good work and kept recommending them to everyone, but now they just seem to be poor value and money hungry bastards and urge people to buy these blank chips and learn how to do it yourself !!!!

end rant !!!!!

Im going to get one of these chips instead of a unichip. What software is best to use with it or are they all pretty much the same. I wont be tuning it but i want to make sure it can be done propely with the right software.

Cheers
