i just whacked my original auto ECU back with a Chiptorque J3 chip with parts of my custom manual tune modified to work with an auto

Chiptorque have become ridiculously expensive lately...... something like $800 for the J3 chip, and $250 to get a base tune flashed on, and the same price per hour for custom dyno tuning

they know their stuff though...... but hopefully with galapogos' chips & tuning it can all be done on at a fair price again !!!

also the stall im running only flashes to 2500rpm so the ecu is happy..... my new stall going in is rated to 2500-2800 so im not sure if it will flash higher or not.

Yeah, I'm definitely hoping to learn plenty and eventually do my own tuning.

I've been looking on the TI site and I notice on the Custom Chip info that the smart lock can be "disabled/overridden"

What are the advantages of doing this??

Cheers

Opening the definitions up for DIY tuning was the main reason I started this effort.

Disabling smartlock is useful for retrofitting ECUs to other cars which don't have smartlock - EFI conversions, EL ECUs into EA-ED 6cyls to run BBMs and thermofans, etc.

The stall speed cutout can be modified in the ECU. Stock strategies have varying speeds for the cutout, which explains why some cars are fine and some spit the dummy. It's only an issue if you flash the convertor in Drive, in 1st it wont go into LHM.

Cheers,
Jason

Right, so no real advantage to me just doing a 5 speed conversion and keeping the ECU in the same car.

Hi Guys,

Have made a small update to the site, added some more dealers, and also we now stock an adaptor to allow reading of stock tunes. More information here:

Could you use that to get a live readout of the cars info on a laptop?

Eg on tunerpro you can pring up all those gauges like speed, temp, RPM?

Nope, this is purely for reading the stock binary (for the purposes of modifying it).

Very happy with my TI J3 chip. The car is completely different and so much more responsive. The real test for me tho was bliping the throttle in neutral. There is a big difference between then and now. Cheers Jason

Mal Wood auto. Click on the Ford tab, scroll down to the bottom pic. Pretty sure there's a chrome knob shown. Good Luck

In the V8s there's a switch but it's not found on the I6. I just run the decel map ranges at a low VE to achieve a similar effect.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I have been on holidays.

Cheers,
Jason
