Dont suppose you have any further ideas on the situation Im having with my chip?
Tried 3 different chips now without luck and going to try another ECU now.

Hi Jason, problem solved I think mate , just needed a manual tune rather than an auto as the EB1's already have a TCM. Going strong now...

Great news, was wondering why I hadn't heard from you. I did mention to Matt he should be using a manual bin, doesn't quite make sense why it would run OK for a day then stop though. At least your problem is solved.

One question!

I'll be putting in a cam so will it go into limp home mode without it being tuned for the cam?

DeTiger, the guys at Boydys should be able to tune to suit the turbo no worries, best off giving them a call.

4LEDboy, a camshaft won't cause the ECU to go into limp mode, but you may need your tune altered to suit it (depending on how large the cam is).

Hey Jason,

Just got a few questions for you.

I have a el tickford lpg ecu and am converting my car to manual. With a J3 chip will I still be able to put an el xr6 manual tune in it.

As the car is duel fuel is there any way of switching between a gas and petrol maps.

Im looking at your programmer pack but just wondering will it cost extra to have the el xr6 tune put on the chip before delivery as I want to get the car running as quickly as possible then use the programmer at a later time.

Cheers

Hi there,

Is the gas factory Tickford or are you just currently using a gas ecu for spark maps? Either way, I think I should be able to get an XR6 Manual bin to run bi fuel - if not I can alter the gas tune to have tickford like maps.

If you already run the gas ECU, switching will continue to be done how it currently is. Alternately you can run two tunes on the chip and switch via the chip itself (there is an extra cost involved in programming two banks).

To order, select a pre-programmed chip now, then buy programmer when you need it - or both now if you like. I will ship them in the same bag if you order on the same day.

PM me if you have any more questions.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi - I've been having a go with the J3 and TunerPro RT on my EL Fairmont auto, mild cammed 347 (212/218@.050). I'm chasing down some low load, low speed ping issues - wondering if it is possible to monitor where the ECU is working in real time on a laptop screen while running to speed up the process?

This would be useful as I don't know how to determine "load %" so that I can make a timing adjustment in the right place on the spark base table (load vs RPM). Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Hi There,

There is no way to log with the chip itself. We sell TechEdge loggers for this purpose.

To work our your load point, use a multimeter hooked up to the MAF sensor. If you're chasing a ping, ensure you have good fuel and that your base timing is set correctly, as people often advance timing this way and forget to revert it when tuning. It is most likely a lean spot in the MAF transfer.

Thanks Jason,

I'll have a look at the Tech Edge. I'm using a 70mm "30lb" meter with 30lb/hr injectors and running an LC-1. I've extended and "fattened" the transfer curve to get 12.5:1 WOT, but my probs occur way down the range when still in closed loop, mixture is about stoich. I do a few kays, so I can probably continue with trial and error and make decent progress.

Cheers,

Small update guys (that took a lot of time!). New and Updated Tech Docs are available on the site! We have updated the tech docs section and added two new tech docs, including a guide on Installing EL ECUs into EA-ED Falcons along with a guide on how to read EECs using the F2E reader. See the site at http://www.tiperformance.com.au/ for more information.

Thanks to Tony (Fiend) for the graphics.

Cheers,
Jason

Hey is there a way to check if the J3 is working? I got my engine cranking but it won't start! However there is power to the coil an injectors

Cheers!
