Off is fine.
Use the 4DBG bin from the site! edit: Nothing has been done for pre-EF, but there is no point, as you can run an EL ECU in an EA-ED for the cost of a smartlock override.

is your ECUs connector clean?
is it plugged into the car? it needs to be powered to be read.

i've got the ECU powered up off a battery on the bench, using an old ECU connector..
I'll have to try and get some vista drivers for the burn1 and use the laptop in the car.. Cheers David

Make sure the J3 connector is clean, from factory they're covered in water protection goo, need to scrape it all off (I use the plastic doodad that covers the J3 port, then some sandpaper to make sure it's all gone).

A paddle pop stick also works well if you dont want to dissasemble the ECU to get to the PCB side

Reading the ECU also takes the right voltage... make sure your battery is up to spec, otherwise you'll be reading just random s**t, and it will never verify against anything.
galapogos01 - if you want some extra info, some basics have been done in the past... I think data_mine stands out the most because he wouldn't shut up about it EDIT - by that, I meant if you haven't, have a search.. some interesting info in the old threads, just after this moates thing came to light... That's all if those threads are still around lol.. was a while ago Good luck, and good info. Cheers

/me takes a bow.
I always do things in a spectacular fashion. It is however great to see, more progress has been made. Hopefully with less issues than I had.

If you guys are using these chips it should be a simple fix to remove smartlock. If you can read the code, and figure out where it checks, you can just set it to return ok.
I hope has anyone managed to build LPG Code with the XR6 Fuel Mapping? - and has anyone managed to change the revs that the BB Switches? (I think mine would respond well to lower BBM). How much is it going to cost me to get set up with the software and a local chip (I like the idea of local...) |

If you're running LPG Nigel, my bumometer suggests a switch point around 3300rpm rather than the stock 3800. That's in an AU anyway, and that was before my most recent ...errr... "intake mods"

That was what Im thinking, however I also have VCT.
... my Bumometer actually feels lag then at 3800 im heading north again. Can that be tuned using the chips? |

Anything the ECU controls can be changed.. it's a matter of finding the values within the code.. I don't think the DEF files have things like BBM switch over point.. however it shouldn't be too hard to figure out as it's the same on all of them (the value). So just go searching and changing until you achieve the result you want.
Oh, and upon reading your post again... you're talking VCT as in on an AU? These are a different monster, and I don't think these chips apply to the VCT AUs... I could be wrong though. Cheers
