While we are on the same subject...

I have an EL Ghia/xr with an EL auto ghia ECU... my car is now a manual, it is also dual fuel.

Is it possible to put the petrol manual XR map on the J3 and also the tickford gas manual map and then use a relay to swap between the maps based on whether the gas/petrol selection switch is changed? (meaning the map would change automatically to petrol when I swapped the car from gas to petrol and vice versa)...

is that doable?

ta

Hi guys,

You're better off with an EL ECU, for the reasons mentioned in this thread and in the tech guide on the site. It can be tuned for the log manifold (removing the spark dip/rich spike on runner transition).

Frank, you're probably best off with a Tickford Gas bin customised to suit the application. The LPG input can then be used to disable injectors/enable LPG spark map. Alternately you can use the bank function on the chip with two petrol tunes loaded, one with an LPG spark map. Finally, you can do what I did and have done for a few other customers with good results, and run one single map with an amount of advance that suits premium fuels and LPG well.

Cheers,
Jason

Ok, that sounds good. But i would have no idea how to do that with tuning with log manifold. If I keep the ed eec, can i bolt on the turbo with small boost only,do a dyno run just to get a idea, then sent the details down and get a custom chip done. Or am i way off the mark. Sorry to be a bother. I will use an el ecu if i have to with the log manifold, but am not bothered with changin it.

Thanks heaps

Josh

Yep, that's possible if you're running an FMU to deliver the additional fuel on boost. You can also get any of the Dealers on the site to dyno tune it for you.

Another happy customer here. Been running a j3 for about a year now. Had a couple of issues but jason is more than happy to help. Recently picked up another one to tune a el with a 1521a in it and is going well.

Just a couple of quick questions -

I know we cant change transmission shift points via the j3 yet but i have noticed on the tiperformance website there is a turbo bin that has the note next to it, modified shift points. So has this just been newly discovered?

And also with having 2 bins on one chip i read in the FAQ section that this is possible. Is RTtuner able to combine the 2 bins to burn on to the chip? I havent worked this out yet, sorry if its a stupid question. Is there any guides for soldering a switch to the chip to switch between the bins and is this able to be done on the fly, not that i would, just interested in capabilities. Obviously would void any warranty?

Thanks again.

That was the claim of the owner of the bin - it's questionable that that's the case. You're best off starting with an XR6 bin if you think the standard shift points are lax - I am quite happy with my fairmont bin, allows me to utilise the torque of the engine rather than being shift happy.

To select another bin you bridge the left two pins of the BANK connector. You do this when both programming and running in the car (no joining files or anything else weird). I think this was answered earlier in the thread, may have to write a guide about this one... :)

Hey Jason have you got live tuning yet? I have seen
the dashboard but is it live so the parameters can be changed whilst on the dyno?

Still working on this -- we were focused on AU J3 support, which should be ready in days (successfully tested). Now when we find time we may switch back to our emulator.

I have said it before and will just mention it now, the fixation on the realtime buzzword can be a money waster unless you have a good reason - i.e. a very extravagant combo that's going to require lots of dyno time. Given the ultra fast burn time of our chips there is little reason for realtime - for example AU-FG flash via the ODBII port is not realtime and takes a lot longer to burn than a J3 but people still get killer results!

Cheers,
Jason

I take it you've followed the install guide and installed the driver?

Send me a PM with the steps you've taken and we'll work it out. Items are hand tested before shipping so I doubt its a device issue.

Cheers,

Pretty well. Have some chips that are almost ready to ship. Definition may need a bit more work though. Are you after auto or manual? The next step will be collecting suitable bins and making enough defs. The one we have currently is Auto iirc.

I have an AU S1 XR6 HP eec that I can send to you if you want and you could send it back with my chip?

Cheers!
