So guys, don't forget the dyno comp coming up at Hallam Performance in Vic - May 7th!
Image

Come down for a chat or chuck your car on the dyno to see what it is capable of!

If you're keen to come don't forget to put your name on the list at http://www.boostedfalcon.net/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=19463

In other news, updated definitions for EF Falcon with transmission maps unlocked are now available on the site (thanks to andyt), and we're now offering boost mapping in Custom Tunes available on the site.

Cheers,
Jason

Hey guys. Im about to purchase an AU 3 wagon.

Its totally stock and original and im looking at the pro's in getting a chip and so far my research all points to this J3 chip.

Im not doing it up, ive got my Cortina for that. This will just be a family car but im looking for a little more kick/torque and possibly even better fuel economy as i will be running it on BP Ultimate.

Will it be worth it considering I wont do any cam, head or echaust work?

Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,

We have seen gains in power, torque and economy even on standard engines, especially where premium fuel is used.

Cheers,

Hey everyone, i have recently bought a chip from jason and im a little worried its not running the way it should be due to my mistake. when i saw my au series 1 computer its said WADE on it??? The E however was done with a marker and after rubbing it off it says WADD which from what i can find is a manual computer and i have an auto? The guy i bought it from must have switched it at some stage? Could this b why my chips not working right?

It is normal for Ford to use a pen to mark an ECU they have flash upgraded to a later revision (D->E). My refs show WADD as an Auto.

Can you use the code off my VCT auto to program a manual chip for me or does the code need to be from a manual ? because vct manual computers seem to be rare as rocking horse shyte.

Should be able to sort this out no worries. When you're closer to purchasing just PM me the details (series, mods etc).

Cheers,
Jason

G'day Jason,

Only just realised there was a thread for all this... So on here as opposed to a PM...

Been reading and looking at different defs and bins to see what is in them and that... Came across this page:

http://www.advancedtechnologies.com.au/ ... ctions.pdf

The def file has unlocked oodles of flags/scalars/maps as seen in the left hand columns...

I found that your EF V8 Auto def is similar to this and has heaps of interesting quirks in there you can adjust... From thermofan activation to turning sensors off to changing the transmission type...

Is the extent of this even possible on the EL computer? Is this where the mention of donating to the creators is? This is where someone sits down and sorts through the hex until a word or bits line up somehow with a known setting and they get added and labelled in?

So it requires people to continually work at unlocking more?

Finally found what those 4 idle speeds are... but ahh... I thought the computer couldn't distinguish between the trans being in auto or being in gear (drive) (confuses the NL cluster as it just says it is in neutral regardless) or is what the NL cluster says completely unrelated? Thought it may be as it gets this from the data pin on the EEC...

Some of this info takes some searching to find... :? Certainly well spread out all over the net and various forums... Shame it isn't all contained in one easy to read location... Or is it and I can't find it?

Cheers,
Tim

Just found the answer to my first question...

Takes a talented person to sit through and work with the assembler code... Quite time consuming...

So these features may become available one day if the people capable of doing it ever reveal the scalars, etc in the code...

Is there like some blueprint in Ford somewhere which just details all this which would save years of work in decoding this? Just seems to be so much work so little outcome... :? Esp if you learning assembler for the sole purpose of pulling the EEC's brain apart?

Cheers,
Tim

If Ford supplied all of the detail, SCT wouldn't be charging $1000 for flash tuners! The V8 bins are very different. They have been worked on by loads of ex Ford people in the US for years - in some cases, Australian V8s are almost direct copies.

There are no similar strategies to the Australian 6cyl in the rest of the world, meaning this work needs to be redone, and for a very small market. To get to the stage we have is a huge achievement, and while a longer list of parameters might look impressive, there is no need for most of them to be modified.

A manual should have a neutral switch and or a clutch switch (so you don't start in gear). No idea how this relates to your fairlane cluster. Set the speeds with your programmer and experiment.

This thread is probably a good read start to finish for bits of info posted over the years...

Just wanted to report my experience with TI Performance and their custom pre-programmed J3 chip.

Car

'96 EF Futura sedan 6 cyl
Factory T5 manual
Wade 1004 / 110 cam
Genie extractors/high flow cat/2.5" exhaust
3.45 LSD
AU injectors
Stock intake except for BA XR6 Turbo snorkel

Before chip

- Running rich, AFRs reached 10.7 at the richest on the dyno
- Max 147kw on dyno
- Running car with ISC disconnected due to excessive rev hang in the stock tune
- Driveline jerking on deceleration
- Have to hold foot on accelerator on cold starts for a couple of minutes to prevent stalling
- Inconsistent idle, hunting
- Have to raise base idle screw a lot due to cam and disconnected ISC, causing TPS confusion
- Getting around 400-450km per tank of 98 octane fuel around town

After chip

- Car feels much more responsive to different throttle positions and is quicker

- Max 154.7kw on dyno, with intake piping removed from throttle body. With piping on the result was 147kw, same as before the chip, as the intake must now be the bottle neck. Unfortunately didn't get a "Before chip" dyno with the intake piping off. I estimate it would have been around 5kw less than the "After chip" result with the piping off, judging by the AFRs

- AFRs corrected, dyno shows 12.8 is now the richest it gets

- ISC rev hang reduced, however not enough for my liking (it is a pet hate of mine), engine braking is still almost non-existent, so still running the car with the ISC disconnected. This is a personal preference, not any downfall on the part of TI Performance, they reduced the rev-hang as requested while maintaining enough to prevent driveline jerking on deceleration

- Cold start idle is improved a bit

- Operating temp idle is a bit more consistent, almost no hunting now

- Getting around 450-500 km per tank of 98 octane fuel around town

Summary

Overall very happy, Jason's service was always helpful, always answering my email questions, and had sent the chip via express post within 1 hour of me placing my order.

Thanks heaps!

Hey man Probs in the wrong section or something, but I'll ask you this.
Do you Have or know of a product that can either eliminate or control the Closed loop economy circuits in EBII falcons.

Cheers.
