I'm assuming that it doesn't catch at all - not even trying to start - but the starter motor is turning plenty fast enough to start it.

The engine needs three things to run:
- Air
- Fuel
- Spark (at the correct time)

Air is unlikely to suddenly cause a problem unless you've sucked a bird into your intake snorkel :D

Fuel - After trying to start it, check for the smell of unburned petrol from your tailpipe. If no smell, probably no fuel. For a sudden total failure like that, I'd bet the fuel pump has died. It won't be injectors (all six dying at once?). Does it prime when you turn the key? (Not too sure about EBs, but assume the EFI works similar to the EF).

Spark - For the engine to not start at all, the whole ignition system must be affected. That would be distributor (TFI module? Rotor?), coil, ECU, etc. It won't be leads or plugs. Pull one plug, stick it on the lead, and ground the plug against the engine - if you get spark, it's probably a fuel problem.

That should get you started. Hope this helps.

Check the basics as mentioned above. Fuel and spark.
If neither, I'd say the TFI has gone.

If it is the TFI, don't skimp on the replacement.
Get a genuine Bosch distributor, not a $30 ebay special.
The Bosch units are available on ebay for around $150-$180.
