i'm still learning the tweecer and have so far been extremely impressed with the setup. you've got me interested, what do u need to solder on the A9L ecu? and what modifiers are hidden?

boost reference can be acquired by comparing maf voltage vs tps voltage. this will give an accurate reading of boost. they do support a wideband o2.

i agree there are better things out there but i reckon the quality of product compared to cost far outweighs the alternatives. u can easily spend 10K on injection if u wanted to and u'd be assured then u'd have something special.

AFAIK Mustangs use a different speedo sender, so the A9L's have to be modified to read ours.

As for the modifiers/correction factors, there were variables that were not supported in the ecu that meant the tweecer wouldnt do exactly what was it was asked to do. Basically you had to approximate what the correction factor was and change the tune so that the end result was what you wanted.

now I know you can datalog widebands but I didnt know that the ecu could tune based on a wideband sensor (except for the narrowband output). Same goes for boost reference, I know it can be worked out but I didnt know you could tune based on derived boost.

I guess my experience is different. After seeing all the headaches of tweecers I put together the simplest, nastiest, cheapest ecu around - a MS2. Everything was just so easy in comparison. Simple tuning interface, proper real time tuning, wideband AFR targeting, accurate boost reference if needed. The tweecer definitely still has its place and has lots of really good features (I have recommended them to many people as it suits what they were doing), but they do have issues that need to be appreciated.

Horses for courses ;)

i'd never claim to know everything and essentially i've got my training wheels on as far as the tweecer is concerned but i'm under the impression that if i can measure it, i can adjust it? yes no?

i'm running a A9L as my car is manual and i dont run a speedo sensor nor VSS as the ole corty runs a conventional speedo cable. up until now it hasnt casued me any grief.

i'd rather know all this than be one-eyed about it in the event that i do have an issue so i can be prepared to deal with it

i would've thought that no system is 100% perfect and this would be the case regardless of application or requirements. at the end of the day trial & error is the only way u'r ever going to reach that perfect bottom line.

btw, dont think for a second that i'm having a go at ya. i am genuinly interested in learning any objective views of the tweecer. there are plenty of pro's vs cons on these forums but u sound like you know your stuff so i'll definitely take what u have to say on board

I looked at TwEECer initially for the 5.0, but unfortunately my factory ECU, and my XR ecu were not compatible, so i went for an EMS8860, and i have been verry impressed. I would have liked to go for a TwEECer, as it would have kept a stealth look to the ECU

im still keen on one of the flash tuners when they come out for the e-series.. just plug it in and boom, power :P:P hehe but when I get the money ill b outlaying for a ms2 or some sort of after market

stockstandard what ECU enhancer would you recommend for a EL XR8 Windsor with GT40P heads, Explorer manifold, Crow cam, 75mm TB & EGR and MAF?
I would like complete tunability without the need to cut wires.

Ttweecer or chiptorque and chiptorques are your obvious options. Id personally go the tweecer.

Depending how keen you are you can also make adaptor harness' for other ecu's. Im working on an adaptor for an aftermarket ecu to fit a similar engine to yours which wont require cutting of the loom (just running a vacuum line).

I didnt say it wasnt the best option in all cases. Sometimes you dont need a $1500+ ecu. Sometimes you dont want to cut wires to do an install. Sometimes people are just interested in playing around with the factory ecu's. There are situations where it makes sense to use a tweecer and there are situations where it makes sense to get something else. If nobody talks about the downside of the product how can people make an informed decision?

So the Tweecer would suit me for having a N/A engine with GT40P, Explorer, under drives, 75mm MAF T/B and EGR and exhaust system?
Basically thats going to be all that is done to my car.

Not saying that its a waste but if you went the capa tuner when they do come out some time this century it is gonna cost you in the viscinity of $700-$800. It would probly be a wiser option to go the Dimmasquirt. When Dimma cracks it. It is also plug and play and only $1000 certainly more perameters to play with and all via laptop and on going support.

Have BPT cracked the EF ECU, as they specifically mention from EB to EL ?

Hey Brett, what did your EMS end up setting you back (unit cost & tune) ?

My standard ECU is really struggling to run my beast, and I think its time to get some penny's out and get the donk running at its full potential.
