was just browsin through and looked at BPT.

What is this tweecer thing for eb-el?

It lets you retune (edit) the e-series ECU's

Only really works well with the V8's though. I think there are a handfull of I6 ecu's that are partially supported.

oh ok

got me hopes up for a minute then :P any word on the new capa flash tuner that has been a yr or so in the making that was suppose to come out ages ago for the eb-el?

yeah capa announced some time ago that they had released it to several tuners for testing.

tweecer and e-series edit are the same thing - only difference is software.

Before CAPA can release the edit they will have to crack every e-series ecu which is no small task. Considering how long tweecers have been around and the amount of functionality unlocked its no surprise that the edits release date keeps getting put back.

how many kw at the rear will the capa give approx? I know the capa on the xr6t gave it like 40odd kw at the rear, its amazing

Impossible to put a figure on it.
Won't be anywhere near as much as they can get out of the T's, no boost pressure to increase obviously :wink:

A company in the US released a unit called a Tweecer to sports performance shops to modify the EEciv and EECv computers in ford and generic brand vehicles.Some of these units have now made there way to Oz .I bought 1 off ebay 2 years ago and recently more have been advertised. I paid $1k for the unit I still have and it was the best investment you could make in tuning your car.No more rev limiter ,no more speed limiter (careful with that one beware the tailshaft) reprogrammed fuel mapping and reprogrammed timing curve but that was it. Some people thought these would help you gain 100 kw overnight but the truth was they are an aid to tuning efficiency.

theyre better if youve got mods to so u can tune the ECU properly....its an alternative to getting a Wolf3D or a Motech.....alot cheaper too.....BPT is actually looking at flash tuners for the E-series at the moment....IIRC pete (XR9UTE) knows alot about the Tweecer....

Not with BPT. They know there s**t when it comes to it. Terry has a 450hp blown ED XR8 running tweecer.

what do you base that on? the tweecer isnt a bad product full stop.

i'm running a tweecer RT(on a 6cyl) and i reckon it's the best thing since sliced bread. i've used a few of the bigger aftermarket ecu's in different forms of race applications and the tweecer comes in just as competitive.

a tweecer wont add hp right from the word go. it can and does provide small improvements initially with the responsiveness being the main noticable difference. what it does do is ENABLE u to tune your engine to it's maximum potential. if u have a bog stock standard engine with no mods then a tweecer will give u nothing of use. u add or change goodies and it all works well.

imo why would spend $3000+ for a reasonable aftermarket injection setup which is supplied with a base map and YOU then have to spend countless hours setting up? when u could spend less than $1000 for a system that FORD themselves spent hundreds of thousands doing the R&D to develop the basemap which u only have to fine tune?

the only disadvantage is that the tweecer is fairly restrictive as to which engines it's compatible with and it's two dimensional.

They know their s**t, but that doesnt change the fact that the tweecer isnt as good or user friendly as an aftermarket ecu (they would be using so they can say "look how good this product we sell is"). This is especially true for blown engines since they have no boost reference or wideband O2 support. Also the 'hidden' modifiers that are not unlocked on the ecu's can play havoc with the tunes at times. Of course you can get around that by fitting an A9L ecu from a mustang, but then you need to get stuck into the ecu with a soldering iron.

Not saying they are crap, they certainly have there place, but there are better things out there.
