Well it looks like the pump in the EF is showing signs of age. I am getting some mild flat spots that don't seem to replicate anywhere in the rev range. To eliminate issues I have changed plugs, leads, air, oil and fuel filters. The change of leads helped alot, I was unsure the age of the ones i pulled off, but the bosch motorsport ones, well they are new, so its a known quantity.

Now.. I have a Walbro GSS342 pump sitting on the shelf, pretty much brand new, its a 255l/ph 550hp job. Probably a stupid question, but will this over fuel my motor? Fuel reg should see that does not happen, but is there a point the reg will just say stuff you? This pump is out of the turbo setup that will be making its way into the car, it was plumbed in with a rising rate reg previously.

what is the stock item rated at? flow and hp?

Long winded question with probably an easy answer.

Thanks.
Dave

i think you will be fine fitting the gss342..
i had mine fitted when i had the el ecu fitted and it was fine..

the walbro is a high flow pump, not so much a higher pressure pump...

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I know the pump works, it was working before being removed. will drop it in the hole and see how she goes. If its not to my liking I will be looking for a bosch 044 to fill the gap. should be fine though from all reports.

Walbro will be fine, as Troy said, High Flow not High Pressure.

If you do get stuck Dave there is one in the Fairlane that is about 6 months if that old.

This thing has gotta go in the car at some time, may as well be sooner rather than later, Matt, if I get jammed I'll take the one out of the lane off your hands.

well its been 10 days now, the problem is now rectified. had a screwed injector as well as a suspect pump. no bloody wonder it was a PITA to diagnose. Only showed up as injector once the pump was changed out.

Was getting the flat spotting due tot the pump, injecter issue made it worse.
