ok well, my economy is sitting on 17+ L/100km!
am i too picky? its an EF 6 fairmont i have an AU3 xr8 intake snorkel, k&n filter, new plugs, new leads, ph 4499 extractors with 2.5" lukey system, new oxygen sensor and have run a tank of injector cleaner... i think thats all ive done from memory.. why is it so high? what else can effect economy to that amount? i dont like my trip computer beeping at me after ~350km

Holy s**t Gaz!!!! My EF XR6 gets 700km per tank sometimes more.
With all that s**t done to the engine I reckon your gearbox is probably stuffed. Running around in 3rd or something. s**t even my EL XR8 gets 550-600ks per tank. What have you done???? |

Even if the box isn`t finding 4th gear fuel should be better than that its only a 6 get the computer analised.

Make sure your wheels are aligned properly and bump the pressures in your tyres up. I run 44psi in mine. Don't let anyone tell you high pressures are bad.
It won't make much difference, maybe 20km/tank, but it's a saving. Run a thinner oil if you can aswell. You can forget about the W rating of an oil in Australia. That's the winter viscosity, but since our weather is so mild, a 40 and a 50 wil be virtually the same. Run a 15w40 or a 10W30 if you can. Will help a tincy wincy bit with economy. Also, what terrain do you drive in and how long are the trips you're doing? If you're doing short trips and the car is cooling down between trips, then the engine will be running in cold start mode a lot more than if you do one big long trip. When the engine's cold, the fuel condenses on the cold parts fo the engine and as such, the engine needs more fuel to attain the correct mixture hence why you use more fuel. Hilly terrain will also stuff up your fuel economy. In my fiance's EF auto, I can barely get 400km/tank when I just use it to go to work and back. 300km if I push it hard. That's because there is no flat on the way to work and it's all up hill, down hill etc etc. On a highway trip, it'll do 750km to a tank. @ 110km/h |
