hey all, i done a quick search but couldnt find what i wanted to know...

what exactly is involved in smartlock? ECU BCM instrument cluster and ignition barrel? is that all?

im currently running a NCII non smartlock loom etc, but just picked up a write-off NCII smartlock edition and want to swap over smartlock so i have a working keypad, but as the last owner decided to remove all the tail light looms (cut off about 20cm from each plug) i dont want to swap the full looms.

am i able to just swap the complete dash loom over?

also by doing this i can remove the smartlock bypass.

Mate i just put smartlock in my 1992 NC 1 Fairlane. Everything works fine after getting a error code 5 from the bem. But you should be fine hooking it up. As for using the wiring loom i don't know if there is anything different between them both. The best part is i got keypads now :D

Hope this helps ya mate

Mate all ya can do is give it a try. I just cut the wires i needed from a car and just hooked it up that way. Everything is running fine. I would think a full loom would be fine the only problem i can think is only pin 4 from the ecu. I would think that would run through the engine bay.

As far as I know there are 3 parts to smartlock - the ECU, the ignition lock and the Smartlock module (separate in EA-ED, combined with the BEM on EF-EL). Transfer those bits and Bobs your uncle :)

Cheers

Yup, found out yesterday that the EBII - ED has two modules - the smartlock bit is above the handbrake, orange I think, and the BEM/BCM is sitting on it's side beside the radio area - both under the dash. The BEM/BCM can be black, blue or green depending on what level of functionality you have :)

Cheers
RD

awesome stuff. well im looking to swap the complete dash as i stupidly drilled 3 holes to fit gauges before i got the car on the road (stupid digital dash and lack of important gauges) so hopefully if it all plugs in it will be sweet.

thanks guys 8-)
