Ok, so when you decide that you want your car converted to gas, what is actually changed to your car?

Car in mind is a EF XR6.

Im not looking for a detail description, i just want to know what changes when its running a duel fuel set up (like ecu, timing etc)

The reason im asking is that I would like to know what has changed from the stock EF XR6 to what im running now (duel fuel).

Is timing changed, spark maps added to ecu.. etc etc etc
thanks

I was thinking the same mate! I have a EF XR6 too and am wondering how the duel fuel setup will work & if its good for the motor?

Ive been asking alot of different mechanics they all seem to have their own opinion on gas cars. Some say extends your life of the motors & some say you ruin it straight away!

Should any valve & seat work be done to cope with the extra heat?
How come taxis last a million k's? What work are done to them?

I'd just like to get facts straight & some questions answered before I make the big decision weather it kills my baby or not!

Help PLz?

mostly what happens when you convert a falcon to gas thee only thing that gets changed is the thermostat . timing - ecu maps are not changed - its just basiclly adding a another fuel sorce to the car . and the question why do cabs run a million kays is cause ford built the cylinder head to suit gas , but what you will find is that some mechanics out there HAVE NOT GOT LPG fitters Licence and allways will have a different verdict on gas .

So are all ford heads then built for gas or just the ones in the taxi fleet?

Im looking at a duel fuel system atm. Rumour has it though that the car won't run well on petrol ever again....why? I've just clicked over 200000kms the other day I want to make sure I'm not going to kill the XR6 more!

My understanding is, alloy head must have hardened seats so head is suitable from factory.

Strange how ford have done a backflip on their petrol engines suitablity for LPG since bring out their Egas falcons.

in your case "blackone" you get the MOST restrictive mixer ive ever seen. a little computer that cuts off the injectors, and turns the gas on, and a HEAP of dash wiring.

Hi, got an Au Fairlane V8 with 460,000kms on its an ex VHA,bought another windsor motor and stipped the original, the only parts that were stuffed were the heads other than that bottom end was good and the motor had no leaks, you do have a slight loss in power but for around town its ok
