yea...
the ecu has no interaction with the cluster in ea to ed..
the only thing you will find is that your trip computer will be totaly incorrect..

because the pwm signal from the el ecu is different and goes to the el cluster and the el trip computer gets its info from the cluster, where the ea to ed gets its signal directly from the ecu..

but there is a trick to get the ea/ed trip comp to work on the el ecu..
i actually assisted "terroristghia" do his ed today...

What do you have to do to get the trip computer in the EA _ ED to work with the EL computer?

hi
you need to cut the wire on pin 34 on the ecu and splice the loom end(wire from trip comp) into pin 58 pwm injector pulse...this will fix the trip comp..

Thanks for that, very much appreciated. Is it easier to reroute the EL's wiring loom from the ECU to the motor when it comes to installing the EL manifold or is it simpler to use the old EB loom and swap all the plugs over onto the EL manifold? Havent made up my mind yet. Im planning on using the thermos from the EL, so Im leaning towards swapping the looms, or are the fans on a seperate loom?

i'd choose the 2nd option. for el ecu running log, the fuel maps are different for the log it will seem that its lost power. but will still run fine

The old log manifold will be ditched this weekend, Im just wondering if its easier to keep the EL Loom with the EL manifold when it goes in because I know that you need the wires for the BBM switch or something and obviously they are with that section of loom. Are there any pitfalls that are likely to present themselves when I swap it all over? Also, is there a difference in the way the auto box will respond to the different (EL) computer? will the shift points or any other characteristics change? One other thing, the EL dizzy, is it any different to the EB dizzy? Should it make its way into the Fairmont as well?

Edit, The donor car has cruise control. The cruise control in my EB has s**t itself. Is the cruise control in both cars similar and interchangeable (with some stuffing around if I know Ford) Will the EL system work with the buttons on the EB wheel?
