Sorry to be dredging up such an old thread, but it's only thing I could find close to answering my questions.

I have an EF XR6 and am keen to try an ELM327 Bluetooth scanner to log realtime data. This thread makes it sound possible, but I want to be sure it will work before I dive in, so have a few questions.

1) The ELM327 uses the 16-pin OBD2 connector, so will not plug into the 20-pin diagnostic connector on the EF/EL. Is there an adaptor or cable that will connect the two?

2) Does the EF use the J1850 PWM protocol?

3) Which ELM327 versions work with Forscan?

4) What parameters (RPM, etc) are available from the EF Falcon with this setup?

Thanks for the help.

my understanding is the procedure you want to use will not work on the EA, EB, ED, EF, EL or AU1. it will work to some degree on the AU2 & 3. as to the elm327, good luck with finding one as the units [cheap] sold on ebay are copies. some work fine with the forscan & some won't.

try on this page. as the guy sells a unit that works on the EA to EL systems.

Thanks for that. It looks like a sweet bit of kit. But I'm looking more for data logging capabilities, eg: air temp, coolant temp, knock count, actual ignition advance, etc. Will have to be content with my TI Performance Techedge unit that gives only RPM, speed, AFR, MAP and throttle position.

Thanks.

V1.5 or later has the reliability sorted out, pretty common now, so you won't see a lot of the earlier versions.

That's the big question - haven't been able to find a definitive answer.
Some light reading: ford-interior-f14/laptop-trip-computer-ef-l-t750.html
