G'day

I want to start building my 250 x flow soon but i cant until i know what to do with the ecu. I want about 150rwkw. Pretty easy to do with a carby engine but what about injection. Are then any chips or can a tweecer be used for this sort of power.

I wanted to run a ported and polished head, larger valves, cam to match, extractors, flat top pistons, cold air and maybe larger injectors.

What do you guys reckon.

Cheers

it's a cheaper DIY style ECU option, contact gazdaman or do a search for more

If you want to, you should be able to use an EA/EB ECU with the XF Engine. Run standard injectors - you should be able to use the existing XF IAC motor as well.

Just use the EA/B Sensors and you will be able to change the XF Airbox for another one : Holden VN Commodore ones are not expensive in this application.

That will give you good airflow, and a ford ECU if you want that.

IIRC the EA-EB pre smartlock ECU isnt as easy a swap as just adding the sensors.....

The XF Used the same TFI-Style Dizzy as EA/B. Sensors different, Air Sensing Method Different yeah all true. TPS Sensor same though, and IAC Motor same although from memory the XE/Fs had one of the largest throttle bodies money could buy at the time.

Any reason why putting a pre-smartlock EEC wouldnt work? - I know that I managed to put an XE MPI Setup in once (to my XD) - and all I really had to do that was really hard was modify the XD Fuel tank for an XE Style MPI Fuel pump

Pane,

I'm running a Custom Race Engines built 250 EFI in my XF Ghia. It is built around the same standard as a COME Racing Stage 3 motor but, has a lot more work done to the top and bottom ends ie. 302 Windsor Guide Plates, triple valve springs, valve locks, moly push rods, solid lifters, 1.65 and 1.85 cc valves, 226/230 with 540 thou lift cam (very lumpy), balanced and blueprinted etc etc...).

There are a couple of things that need to be done....you need to make changes to the airflow meter and piggy back the factory ECU if your not going to change it all together say with a microtech....I have piggy backed mine with a unichip....works well, but the factory plenum chamber chokes the motor at mid/top end....only solution is custom made plenum or 6 throttle bodies as per injection perfection....

Regards,
Harry H.

i didnt say it wouldnt work, just that more experienced people than myself (9PSIEB in particular) have advised me that it's a little more difficult than you think
