Maybe he is more exspensive cause he is poppular.
There's also a store in Hornsby who does the tuning. Even closer for me.
I'll make a final decision closer to Xmas .

best thing would be try find some people with similar or the same mods and cars and ask where they went to.
if they went to either one or chose one specific.

if somone with similar mods got his done at the cheapest and closesst place and is extreamly happy with the results then it cant be too bad.

what rwkw do you think you have now?? 150??
so after the tune you may end up with maybe 170rwkw?..
its a fair amount of cash just to gain 20 rwkw and a little torque..

dont get me wrong, its your cash to do as you wish.
but i also question bang for buck.

Well I'm dead even with my mates 6 speed fg xr6.
So yea around 150-55 mark.
I'll be happy with a tune ay, it's not just the power . Fuel economy plus smoother shifting I hope.

Its really hard to give an estimate on a result. Mine pulled 161rwkw before the tune and 174 after, the torque is the biggest gain though (about 70Nm) and really makes a difference for around town, my 2nd gear is actually usable now and really pulls hard from down low.

mine was $1650 with Joe, I to looked up Intune when I originally was looking at tunes way back. Never really heard much about em, they did have a few "incidents" a couple of years back but i think they all ok now. Its a hard choice really but Joe has always been very honest with me and bothers to take the time to explain what hes doing or any questions i had, thats why i went with him, not sure what John is like

Ok I just want to clarify a few things.

1) With Phil's tune, there were 2 tunes, Race & Street as well as the Xcal 3 unit. Joe's Custom BA/F FG Na tunes are $900 without the Xcal unit.

2) With the Intune quote, what have they offered you? Does it include the Xcal? Check around with others that have been there first and see what they say.

3) What is CV Performace offering you for the $1500.00?

Compare Apples with Apples.

No I don't work for Joe, but I have known him for a few years now and can swear by the work he does and backs up his work with quality and service. Others here in Sydney that have dealt with him will give him that recommedation as well. You have already seen what Phil has said and he originally took my advice when I recommended Joe to him to do his Auto service. Ask on here and you will see what I am saying. You won't be disappointed.

That is not the case. it is like the saying "Oil's ain't Oil's". In this case "Tune's arn't Tunes. Tune's will vary from Tuner to Tuner. Take the advice that is given, it may save you a motor.

Also if you are looking for a performance tune, you are not looking at fuel economy. They don't go hand in hand.

so 1500 for a relatively no name sorta guy or just 150 more for a highly reputable tuner backed by many, including a few cars with similar / same mods... i know exactly where i would go...

hey guys. well its gonna be outta these two and am just wondering from anyone with any info one way or the other.
main differences:
BPT is 1250 and they use the sniper tuner.
XFP is 1600 and they use the xcal3.

i have heard a handful of people say XFT over BPT coz they were unhappy with BPT but that coulda been some small incident.. i dont know.

i also know of BLACMAC performance but ive herd a bit of bad stuff about them so they probly wont even be in the ballpark.

any help appreciated. thnx.

I wouldn't go to BPT again...ever!

they stuffed up a T56 conversion and caused $4,000 worth of damage which I had to pay for.

Couldn't even do simple mechanical jobs like instal a clutch properly.

had other work done by them at sub-standard work. Got them to instal a walbro pump once and it failed, and i had a look myself and all they did was mount it in the cradle using cable ties!! and the reason it failed was the filter came off because of dodgy instal - try expalining that to them and of course no responsibility. i did it myself and used PVC piping and job looks neat as.

as tuners, ok I guess, but there are heaps of tuners out there nowadays. i wouldn't get them to do mech work.

They are very much an in and out workshop.
