i have a ef futura i was wondering can i put a xr6 computer in . or is it better to get a chip . can you reprogram the standard ecu?

yes you can put one in (as long as its auto/auto - manual/manual) if you've got decent mods & can justify the $$$ a chip is worth looking into. and nup, can't do anything with the std ECU :(

you can go bith ways xr ecu is a straight swap mith you current one and a piggy back plugs inot your existiting ecu. depends on how much money you want to throw at it and what gains you want from it

kool thanks on one of the other posts they were saying that that diff ratios were different and wit the xr6 ecu it wouldnt rev out

No, dont bother. Have a look at the 'Sticky' thread in this forum regarding aftermarket ECU's..

Depends after I fitted a Wade 1604 cam to my EF falcon and ran it in with the stock ECU a while later I fitted and XR6 EF one and it improved idle and that. So I think it was worth it.

Get an ex cop car ecu,got mine from xr8dismantler and the EL goes very hard now.Only have larger air intake to.

Didn't the cop cars have standard engines though? So the ECU would be made for that. At least with the XR6/Tickford one its programed for a better cam, and larger exhaust and some minor headwork. The cop ones just got a good shift pattern for autos doesn't it?
