Just wondering, if changing the standard fuel reg to an xr6 one would make any difference?? im sorry if this has already been posted, i did a search and could not find anything ...

can only see a benefit if the car is leaning out and needs more fuel?

but with a chip where you can adjust your AFR wouldnt the (slightly) larger fuel reg give to the abilty to get more power out of the car? More fuel + more air = more power...

You can push more fuel in, but how do you feed more air, without boost? :wink:

yeah and your main thing you will notice is your fuel economy going down.because the xr's run a higher fuel pressure than standard.thus driving around town will be abit savage.

I am running the 300kpa fuel pressure reg, on a standard EL engine.

I had already fitted extractors, 2.5" exhaust, have improved the air intake, and am running the tickford ECU.

I did notice a small improvement. The best way to describe it is to say the car pulled stronger from the mid range up to the redline.

For the $10 it cost me new, I am happy. If however I had spent $100 then I wouldn't be so happy.

I will say that all the little things you do add up and together provide the foundation for larger mods.

Just fitted a xr6 300kpa regulator. Results were very good. Quicker acceleration off the line, power throughout rev range has improved especially before 3800rpm.

Leaning out issues up high in the rev range(pinging/detonation) when using a 3in intake have now disappeared and idle quality has also improved. My idle was never the same after getting pacemakers and exhaust fitted. A new o2 sensor helped a little bit but it has never been the same until fitting this regulator. The engine now idles smooth as silk again...........

Also Bosch have stop making these and ford don't stock them. It took a week for Repco to get me one out of a store in southern NSW. There are no xr6 300kpa regulators left in qld repco stores.

So can you just look at a car and tell what the air/fuel ratios are? Maybe it dropped 2hp rather than gain..... would you be able to tell that as well?

In relation too leaning out, I mean pinging(detonation) which results in lost power. Generally I use to get in on hills under full throttle, high in the rev range. Had the injectors serviced, fuel filter and fuel pump sock replaced etc but it never has solved the problem.

Now on this one fairly steep climb that would cause problems, I can now rev it out too redline and it just powers through!!!!!!!!!!!!!without any pinging.

I am very impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!Excellant mod for my fairmont.........

How long have you had it on for? (;) to people that know what I'm referring too).
I find it very very very hard to believe that a 3" intake would cause your car to lean out and subsequently detonate at higher revs.
Either your old reg was f**k or you have other issues that will crop up again as soon as the EEC realises whats happening.

I'm putting on my new ticky head tomorrow and putting back in these injectors that i got (a friends was wrecking a VN) they are yellow, and I was told they came out of a ford mustang and "meant" to of had the center or something like that taken out, they are much fatter than the normal black ford injectors I've been running them for about 6mths with the old AU head I had on the car, but i used to get pinging, and a miss fire about 2200rpm, but if you retard the dizzy it does not ping or miss, but its a slug,
So, Will see how it goes tomorrow. don't know if i will keep these yellow injectors or go back to standard ones ....

Oh and if anyone is interested I broke two Acrylic nails taking the head off!!! (grrrrrrrr) LOL

yellow injectors out of a mustang are most likely the same 19lb variety found in the e series v8's..

the std injectors are about 18.5 lb most will say 19 lb...

if you want a little more try the au injectors they are about 20 lb..
