I found a decent 3dr Festiva and want to do some mods with the idea of wrapping the car in vinyl and using it as a marketing tool.
I've heard of people putting a 1.8 Escort motor in them, but have seen after market turbos that might also be good. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and has advice on what will/won't work engine wise. Thanks |

do a search of festymick on these forums, he has a blown 1.5l festiva.
I understand zetec motors can fit but I think a mazda familia motor conversion would be more fun and more interesting.

Put in a B6 motor, and then turbo it, the B6 is a straight swap and makes a huge difference,
I turbo'ed the wifes festiva with a 1.6 and because it was a auto it spun the wheels at 100 k's so I had to take it back off, But with the 1.6 it still flys

I got your PM Matt. Cheers.
Apart from the (coming) call- i'm all for CC increasing BEFORE modifying. However, Even more can be had with the famed BPD/T option. Unfortunately though, this option can be deemed illegal in some states (being that the donor engine must not exceed the age of the vehicle that it is going into). However- many members here www.fordfestiva.com have had very quick cars from quite minimal fuss. In addition (and to my knowledge) the BP will not fit easily in RHD WB > Festiva. (94 on). With the Zetec option, it's a whole new kettle of fish. Reason being (and i'm only repeating what i have read and heard) the zetec is dimensionally different in all directions, and as such will require custom mounting as well as a custom drivetrain (shafts in particular) and the introduction of many new and different electrical components to suit. Regarding Scottys comments- i would happily do the B6 (or B8 even) and go from there. For the record i am still using the factory B5, and at present making 167KW, 380NM on 21Psi. Look forward to a chat. Cheers |
