Cant get the ignition key out of the lock. The key was a bit worn but went in OK and will turn from "lock" through to "start" the engine. I also noticed that the steering wheel lock does not engage and wondered if the two were related. That is if the steering lock does not engage does that mean the key cant be withdrawn? The car is a manual 1.3 L trio. Help!!!!

Ta, yeah tried the WD-40, but without success. Key seems loose enough and not stuck ... just wont come out.
Puzzled that the steering lock does not engage. Any idea how to make that function without removing the whole mechanism? |

Thanks a lot for responding.
Time to have a poke around with the steering lock to see if it is the problem. |

G'day Trust no one,
The steering lock is only applied when the key is removed, since you can't remove the key then the lock won't apply. Cant help you with getting it out however. cya P.S The best forum I have found concerning these cars is: www.fordaspire.com There are 2 forums on that website, the current forum and an archieved one. Worth checking out both for any info on these vehicles. |

Thanks for the reference to the fordaspire web site ... daughter did mention that the key was a bit rough so that my be part of the problem ... went in, turns, but wont come out ... looks like a visit to the friendly locksmith as I don't want to have to either replace the lock/switch.
