Hi,

Nearly a year ago you wanted to put in an I6 Falcon motor, what has changed ? Most conversions will cost double what you think, and you could easily spend far more than the car is worth. The engine is most likely a Mitsubishi Magna 2.6 and you should be able to buy a whole going car cheap. Gearbox, what is the problem with it ? Reco it and put in 2nd hand motor even if you have to buy the whole car to get it. At least you can test the Motor before you install a Dud. If you want more go then a Commodore V6 would be an easy fit as there are conversion kits made. Check the RTA first if you want more power as most swaps will require a Certificate. I would assume you want to keep the 4WD in it, this will also limit what you can do cheap for swaps.

Have a look at "Project Fordrunner" in the garage. That's the 4th Windsor powered hilux/4runner in Australia (and the only boosted one). That will give you some idea of what is expected and some of the hiccups along the way.
