Hey,

Just picked up my new daily, as the Mav is in for some work, and the fuel bill is a bit over the top.

Was all good till i got off the M7, when it started playing up. Managed to get moving (slowly) Come good for a bit and only way i could get it to go is to have the secondaries opened. Seemed like a accelerator pump issue in the carby. Fuel filter seems a bit dirty, but fuel is definately flowing. There's no hoses that have come off ( bugger me, there's millions of 'em )

I did notice when I backed off a couple times, and went to put the accelerator down, it stuttered, Maybe a sign of what was to come. Engine purred like a kitten (238XXX kms) prior to getting near home.....
Can the carby be serviced. Can you even get bits for them?? Maybe get a new one from Ford if i'm really lucky???
Dont want to spent too much money, but i need it running so i can get to work. Will consider a carby swap.

Cheers

Daz

I have a 1987 laser here carby was a car for the missus till we got a magna but runs like a dream only has 175,000k has everything except P/S and C/C but also have a 1989 model here for parts if your after some thing or help let me know I have a few spares, but unfortunately not a carby, but spare everything else haha. Carby could do with a good clean and check all the hoses, ours ran ok but had a similar dead spot turns out it was one of the 3 manifold vacc hoses were cracked underneath... Just a thought?

Are the 87 carby's the same as the 91?? I would think they would be....
Need to have the car running tomorrow. Waiting to hear back from ebay guy in Sydney, he may have a carby.......

If it wasnt just a daily for work, i may go for an EFI engine swap.........these carby's are just to complicated........
